Australia vs Canada Basketball Tips & Predictions

Australia vs Canada Prediction & Tips

It comes as no surprise to see Canada favoured to win at $1.38 and –6.5 with spread betting markets.

They are packed with NBA talent, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who played well against Greece in the opening game.

Canada scored an 86-79 win over Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece, and it was a better defensive performance than offensive.

RJ Barrett led Canada with 23 points, while Gilgeous-Alexander had 21, so it was a good team effort, and it bodes well against Australia.

The Boombers defeated Spain 92-80 as $1.50 favourites in their opening game. Spain isn’t as good as it used to be, but it was still a fine performance from the Australians.

They were helped with 20 points from Lock Landale, 19 from Patty Mills, and 17 from Josh Giddey. The NBA players stood up, and they’re capable of keeping it close against Canada.

Australia plays a FIBA style of basketball, which relies on physicality and more team work. The NBA style of play is more individual, which Canada adopted with their win over Greece.

We think team ball wins this game, and although we’re not brave enough to back Australia to win outright at $3.05, they are more than capable of covering the spread.

Look for veteran NBA star Mills to anchor the team, and Giddey to produce the magic in the assists department.

Bet: Australia +6.5 @ $1.90

Australia vs Canada Exotic Predictions

Punters get value odds for Mills to score 20+ points, so we’re backing the NBA legend to top score for Australia.

He is paying $2.85 to score 20 points or more, and we’re happy with those odds. He played well against Spain, and although Canada’s defence is tough to penetrate, most of his points come from the three-point line.

Canada likes to fill the key with sizable defenders, which should allow Mills to get open on the wings.

He’s also a fantastic bet to score over 16.5 points, which pays $1.94. There isn’t much confidence with the Boomber, but there should be.

A great multi addition is Jamal Murry to score over 10 points. The Canadian, and Denver Nuggets star, had a quiet game against Greece, but look for him to catch fire against Australia.

Punters get $1.69 for Murray to score 10+ points, and considering he averaged 21.2 points for the Nuggets this season, those odds are too good to be true.

We’re also locking in Gilgeous-Alexander to score 25+ points. He’s the most dynamic player on the court, and although conditions are different to an NBA game, including playing eight less minutes, we still think he can pile on the points.

Getting $2.18 for that option is well worth including in selections.

Bet: Patty Mills 20+ points @ $2.85
