Australia vs Greece Basketball Tips & Predictions

Australia vs Greece Prediction & Tips

It looked like Australia was going to pull off an upset against Canada on Tuesday night, but a poor fourth quarter sealed the Boomers fate.

They looked good in the first half, and punters would have fancied covering the +6.5 spread, but it wasn’t to be with a 93-83 loss.

However, they get a chance to bounce back against Greece, who haven’t lived up to expectations with the Greek Freak at the helm.

Antetokounmpo has yet to win a game at the Olympics with the national side, and we didn’t like what we saw against Spain.

The Spanish played too well for Greece, who were the $1.54 favourites. It doesn’t bode well against Australia, which has a much deeper roster.

Besides Antetokounmpo, Greece struggles with standout players. However, Australia has the likes of Patty Mills, Josh Giddey, and Jock Landale.

Giddey was good against Canada, scoring 19 points against former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He outscored the star player, so that’s encouraging for the young Boomer.

Australia is the $1.51 favourite to win their second game at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and we’re backing our country to get it done.

There is much more depth to the squad, and there are good enough defenders to keep the Greek Freak out of the paint, which is where he does his damage.

It’s unlikely Greece can make the playoffs now, so we’re not prepared to take the $2.57 for pride.

Bet: Australia –4.5 @ $1.92

Australia vs Greece Exotic Predictions

After a poor showing against Canada, we expect a big bounce back from Mills, who didn’t knock down his shots.

There aren’t as many good perimeter defenders on the Greece team, which allowed Spain to shoot wide open threes on Tuesday night.

That should allow Mills to get open, and this could be the game where he shows off his NBA-level skills.

Take him to be the leading scorer for Australia, but we expect Antetokounmpo to lead all scorers, despite playing on a losing team.

We expect Australia to come out humming and establish a first half lead. The $1.51 head-to-head odds are on the short side, but there is better value with halftime/fulltime markets.

Australia/Australia pays $1.94, and those odds are much better than we expected. There is also value in wire-to-wire markets, which pays $2.70 for Australia to lead after every quarter.

It’s harder to achieve, but they should hit the court running.

Bet: Australia/Australia @ $1.94
