About CrownBet
CrownBet was previously one of Australia’s best online bookmakers. As of August 13th, 2018, CrownBet was rebranded to BetEasy. However, on 8 September 2020, BetEasy merged into Sportsbet, which resulted in its disbandment.
But don’t worry! You can compare some of Australia’s best bookmakers at GoBet, including betr, Neds, PlayUp, and Ladbrokes.
Below, you will find our old review of CrownBet as a bookmaker – for historical purposes.
Crownbet was recently purchased by Stars Group, which operates out of Canada. Prior to that, it was primarily owned by James Packer and his company.
It has enjoyed a sustained period of time as one of Australia’s best and most efficient bookmakers, which is why the potential sale attracted interest from offshore buyers.
Originally named Betezy and rebranded to Crownbet in 2015, the leading bookmaker has been in business since 2005, and it’s the go-to bookmaker for many Australian punters.
Crownbet’s leading technological betting platform separates It from many of its competitors (the same platform is now at BetEasy).
CrownBet website design
At first glance, the Crownbet website could seem congested, but it was actually a well-designed betting platform.
On the home screen, punters were greeted with all the information they needed to place a bet or learn more about sports and racing. Multi-bet suggestions were on the right-hand side of the page, and the left side featured the upcoming races, full sports betting lists, and an option to start viewing the live Sky Racing stream.
The bet slip was visible at all times, making it much easier for punters to see which horses or sports options they had selected. All punters needed to do was click on their betting option, which would be automatically added to the bet slip, making it easy to place a bet.
Betting information was always on hand, especially for racing markets, with complete form analysis for every runner in Australia.
All the main options are placed above the markets, which include “Racing, Sports, Live Betting, and Multi Express.”
CrownBet racing features
Punters had a wealth of horse racing betting options with Crownbet, which included major racing from all around the world.
Racing from Australia, New Zealand, and Asia takes centre stage at Crownbet, but you can also bet in the US, Chile, Europe, and anywhere else where racing exists.
The odds on offer are extremely competitive compared to the likes of Neds. Crownbet was one of the first bookmakers to release odds on the Wednesday and Saturday meetings, which resulted in punters getting great early odds.
For the novice punters, Crownbet offered a racing multi-bet on the right-hand side of the racing page. This made it easier to place a racing bet as it can often be a confusing process for the new punters. Punters could choose how many legs and for what stake, with Crownbet doing all the hard work by making the selections.
There was also a good list of racing futures and specials – this included early betting for races such as the Melbourne Cup.
All of these features packed into the CrownBet app which help make it one of the best betting apps Australia has to offer punters on the go!
CrownBet Sports Betting features
It was tough to find a sport that Crownbet didn’t cover. They offered betting on all the major sports such as AFL, NRL and US-based sports, but also markets for chess, bandy and even swimming.
With such a diverse market, we would have understood if Crownbet didn’t update some of the markets quickly enough, but their big team worked around the clock to ensure punters could bet on what they wanted, when they wanted.
Some Australian bookmakers don’t update markets in the early morning hours, but Crownbet was on the ball and ready to offer a great range of options for lesser-known sports.
Futures markets for all the major sports betting events around the world were also offered, such as the Super Bowl and World Cup matches.
All things considered, we can confidently list CrownBet as one of the best betting sites Australia has to offer punting enthusiasts.
CrownBet customer service
Crownbet prides itself on customer service, and having a live chat option is always a great way to please customers.
Not only could punters talk to someone straight away using the live chat option, but there were also some great FAQ sections for the more common questions. A betting info and member info section was also available for punters, and “How to” videos were also made available.
CrownBet payment methods
Crownbet offers a variety of payment methods. These included VISA, POLi, Mastercard, BPay and PayPal.
It was always easy to make a deposit, and punters simply clicked on the amount they wanted to deposit, fill in the card or bank details, and they were set.
International customers can only deposit using credit cards, debit cards, or bank transfers. Using PayPal and other methods may be restricted depending on which country you are betting from.
Withdrawing your funds was easy and quick. The funds were put straight back onto your card or into your bank account, but offshore customers would experience processing delays.
Overall, CrownBet had a high level of potential as an Australian bookmaker. They secure user information using SSL encryption when transferring money to all major banks in Australia. In addition, they proactively neutralised security threats to ensure the safety of their customers.
