Australian Open Day 4 Tips & Predictions
—
Best Bet
Norrie wouldn’t have been happy with the first-round performance, which went five sets, but he should take advantage of the situation on Wednesday.
He faces Emilio Nava, who also went five sets in his opening round, and given Norrie’s experience and class edge, he should worry less about the fatigue, especially playing in the Melbourne heat. He has been in similar circumstances in his career, and that could make a big difference.
Nava was beaten in the Round of 32 in Auckland, so his lead-up form hasn’t been good, and Norrie is a world-class player at his best, so he should win and cover the –4.5 spread.

Next Best
It has been a hard road for Emma Raducanu following her US Open win, but she has recovered from her injuries, and now she’s looking to make another deep run.
The form out of that US Open hasn’t quite stood up as well as Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez would have hoped, but the British player has quality when she’s on her game, and we expect a big effort against Anastasia Potapova.
If Raducanu plays anywhere near her best, she should win comfortably in straight sets. Punters get $2, which is a value price for the grand slam champion.

The home crowd will be in full force behind Ajla Tomljanovic, who battled back from a set down to win her first-round match.
She looked down and out at one point, but she showed her usual fighting tenacity, and we’re surprised to see tennis odds list her as the underdog against Elena-Gabriela Ruse, who is a solid player, but this is a tough game for the favourite.
Ruse will have to play against a roaring Australian crowd, and it could be too much for her. Therefore, there is much better value with the local player at $2.20.

Value Bet
Frances Tiafoe can struggle to get past opponents in the first few rounds of a grand slam, and this has all the makings of being a five-set epic.
Francisco Comesana isn’t an easy player to beat, and although Tiafoe might get the better of him, it could take the American five sets to put away the lower-ranked opponent.
Punters get $3.25 for the match to go five sets. If you want slightly more value, Tiafoe pays $5 to win 3-2. There is good value in both options, and tennis fans should be prepared to watch a 3+ hour epic at Melbourne Tennis Park.
