Australian Open Day 7 Tips & Predictions
—
The #6 seed looked good when winning on Thursday, and he should return on Saturday to handle Machac.
The Italian dispatched his countryman in straight sets, and he’s living up to his ranking. Machac has been playing well also, but there is a class difference, and that should be evident for the favourite, who isn’t as short as we expected.
We priced Musetti at around $1.38, but there is respect for Machac. However, cream should rise to the top, so we’re backing Musetti to win and cover the –2.5 spread. He’s also a good chance to win in straight sets at $4, but there is more insurance with betting on game spread markets.

Next Best
Karolina Pliskova has been our best bet of the tournament. We have cashed her at generous odds, including paying $3.50 when winning on Thursday.
There has been a lack of respect for Pliskova, and although her ranking has dropped significantly recently, that’s because she was going through injury troubles. She’s an elite player, and she’s proving tough to beat.
Madison Keys won’t be easy to beat, which is why we’re not taking the $5 for Pliskova to win. However, she gets a +5.5 start, which is effectively a full set. We see Keys winning, but the final score should be around 6-4, 6-4, so take the value available.

We’re snapping up the value for Marin Cilic to beat Casper Rudd. Cilic looked good when scoring a convincing second-round win, and he’s used to making deep runs at the Australian Open.
There are some concerns about Ruud. He often looks good at the start of the tournament before finding trouble, and this could be one of those occasions. We certainly don’t think he should be paying $1.40 against a proven grand slam performer, so punters should have the fiery Croatian player in their tennis picks this week.

Value Bet
Most of the money is with Jessica Pegula, who is a very short favourite at $1.10. However, upsets happen daily at the Australian Open, and the American has suffered her fair share of upsets.
Looking to cause a big stir in the women’s draw is Oksana Selekmeteva, who is a juicy $10 chance. She has looked good so far, including knocking out the popular Paula Badosa in straight sets. That was a big upset, and she eyes another.
A small bet is enough to return a healthy profit, so she’s worth including in Australian Open picks.
