A-League Round 19 Expert Tips & Predictions

The Newcastle Jets runaway train continues apace, as they sit four points clear of the chasing pack at the top of the A-League table.

In behind, the form of Auckland FC appears to be improving, while Sydney FC and Adelaide United also won well last week to keep the pressure on.

A bit of a chasm is beginning to form between the top half sides and the bottom half teams, with Melbourne City the biggest headline outfit that are seriously struggling.

Down at the bottom, Western Sydney Wanderers continue to look way off the pace, while the same could be said for Central Coast Mariners and Wellington Phoenix.

It is another big weekend of games and here are our A-League tips for the next round of 2025/26 fixtures:

A bumper win in the Melbourne derby is sure to give Melbourne Victory a boost ahead of this one, as they take on Adelaide United next. Victory now sit fifth in the A-League table and look to be ready to mount a serious challenge as the campaign draws to a close. For Adelaide United, this is a big chance to make a statement, following some excellent showings but they undoubtedly start as second favourites for this one. This won’t be as one sided as the odds suggest but Melbourne Victory should come out on top.

Form and results have been improving for Auckland FC in recent weeks, and they will be desperate to keep momentum going here against Melbourne City. The Kiwi flyers won well over New Zealand rivals Wellington Phoenix last week and Auckland FC remain very much in the A-League title hunt. Meanwhile, Melbourne City are in freefall, currently languishing outside of the playoff picture and with some serious work to do. This will be tight, but Auckland FC should get the job done.

Central Coast Mariners ($4.20)

Two sides in hugely contrasting form meet here, as Central Coast take on the Newcastle Jets. For Mariners, this is the type of game they will be seeing as a complete free hit, but their recent form has been abject. Superlatives have been rightfully levelled at Newcastle Jets in recent weeks, and nobody currently has been able to stop them. There is no love between these sides, and it could be feisty, but Newcastle Jets should ride it out and win this one.

Another pair of sides lacking fluency meet here, as Brisbane Roar take on Perth Glory. Roar are curious outfit, who simply cannot seem to string results together, but they are still firmly in the mix to land a playoff spot. Perth Glory have been much improved this term, but they are still a touch off the mark, particularly in big games away from home. With neither side firing, this one could be close, and the draw looks decent value.

An ill-timed blip has seen Macarthur FC drop down to sixth in the A-League table, but they will be desperate to turn things around here, against Western Sydney Wanderers. Macarthur are firmly in the hunt for a playoff spot, despite just one win in five games but this feels winnable for them at home. Western Sydney Wanderers continue to toil down at the foot of the A-League table, and the end of the season can’t come quick enough for them. With that in mind, Macarthur are great value for a home win.

The battle to finish top of the A-League table is hotting up and Sydney FC are very much within the conversation. Next up, is a trip to New Zealand to take on Wellington Phoenix, a side that have lacked consistency and performance levels all season. Sydney have a seven point gap to the Newcastle Jets at the top of the A-League table, but they are a dangerous side and with wind in their sails here, they should pick up an important win.
