7:40pm Melbourne Demons vs Collingwood Magpies @ MCG

Collingwood needs a win to have any chance of making the playoffs, so the Magpies are the more desperate team.

Melbourne’s chances are gone, and mad Monday preparations could have already started, in what has been a disappointing year.

Punters get value odds for the Magpies at –7.5, and we’re taking the line.

Saturday 24/8/24

1:45pm Geelong Cats vs West Coast Eagles @ GMHBA Stadium

We expected a big line from bookmakers and they didn’t disappoint, installing the Cats as –45.5 favourites.

With the finals right around the corner, the Cats will want to use this game to get back to their best form, and the Eagles won’t put up much of a challenge.

The difference in class is for all to see, so expect a one-sided affair.

2:10pm Richmond Tigers vs Gold Coast Suns @ MCG

Pride is on the line when the Tigers and Suns to battle, and we think the Suns are the prouder team in 2024.

Richmond has been close to awful throughout the year, and we’re not about to back them in the final week of regular season play.

It’s all about attitude, but we’re backing the Suns at –12.5.

4:35pm Hawthorn Hawks vs North Melbourne Kangaroos @ UoTS

The Hawks are one of the form teams in the competition, and no team wants to face them in the playoffs.

Facing the Kangaroos won’t pose much of a challenge on Saturday afternoon, and this is a good time for the Hawks to improve their scoring numbers.

It will be a one-sided game, and it should be a big margin between them.

7:25pm Brisbane Lions vs Essendon Bombers @ Gabba

It was an up and down year for the Bombers, but they didn’t do enough when needed.

After a couple of rough weeks, the Sydney Swans are back to their best at the right time of the year.

Sydney doesn’t necessarily need to win, but it will want momentum heading into the playoffs.

12:30pm Western Bulldogs vs GWS Giants @ Mars Stadium

It should be a good battle between the Bulldogs and Giants, and although being further down the AFL ladder, the Bulldogs are favoured to win.

The Bulldogs still have plenty to play for, and they could be the more desperate team, which is why they’re favoured.

They’re also playing good footy, and we’re happy to include them in selections.

3:20pm Carlton Blues vs St Kilda Saints @ Marvel Stadium

There isn’t much between the Blues and Saints with AFL betting markets, which makes for an intriguing game.

The Blues are currently in a playoff spot, so the pressure is ramped up to the highest volume. They need a win, and the Saints could cause an upset.

Form is with the Saints, but we’re picking the Blues to get back to their best with a clutch victory.

6:10pm Fremantle Dockers vs Port Adelaide Power @ Optus Stadium

Another close game is expected to end the regular season as the Dockers and Power battle on Sunday night.

Fremantle could be in the playoffs with a win, so there might be plenty to play for. The Power are already there, so punters should expect the odds to change depending on previous Round 24 results.
