Brisbane vs. Essendon Predictions
—
Best Bet
We have put a lot of faith in the Bombers this year, and we’re hoping for a similar result to last year’s game when Brisbane won 87-67.
Essendon comes off an 81-58 win over Richmond, and although the opposition was poor and they picked up some injuries, this team is capable of fighting when the chips are down. They battled back from a loss to Collingwood with two consecutive wins, so there is some fight in them.
Brisbane comes off a win over Hawthorn, and this could be a letdown spot. Last year’s champions might ease off the gas, and although they should still win the game, Essendon is good enough to cover the sizable +41.5 spread if they’re competitive in the midfield.

Same Game Multi
Logan Morris has fired up recently with five goals from his last two games, and he’s good for another 2+ goal performance on Thursday. With Eric Hipwood scoring just one goal from his last two games, Morris has been there to pick up the slack.
We also like Peter Wright to score a double at $2.25 odds. He could boost AFL same game multi payouts with a good showing, and after scoring two goals against Richmond, his confidence levels are rising. Essendon needs him to play well and make the most of his inside 50s.
Based on the last two games between Brisbane and Essendon, we’re including under 174.5 in our multi. They scored totals of 154 and 132 in their 2023 and 2023 meetings, and we think the line is way off. Our final score prediction has Brisbane winning 89-67, which gives punters plenty of room to move with the under.

Best Value Bet
The reason why Essendon is sitting in 10th on the AFL ladder is because it can’t hold onto a first half lead, so we’re picking the same thing to happen against Brisbane.
Essendon comes out swinging before getting tired in the second half, and although leading at halftime as a $7 underdog isn’t easy, it’s good enough to start well before the class of Brisbane gets the better of them in the third quarter.
