Carlton vs. GWS Predictions
—
Best Bet
Carlton has three wins from its last five games, and although two of those losses have come recently, the Blues are playing much better than GWS.
The Giants have lost four of their last five games, which is a big departure from their form earlier in the year. They started 4-1, but their form has since tapered off, which is why they’re the underdogs for this game.
It’s an important contest, but it’s one Carlton should win. It gets over a week to bounce back from a loss to the Sydney Swans, where it allowed only 78 points, so although scoring 62 points isn’t ideal, the defence did its job.
We’re backing Carlton to cover the –2.5 spread. It has two wins from the last three games against GWS, so that’s in its favour.

Same Game Multi
We’re taking the value odds for Charlie Curnow 3+ goals, which pays a healthy $2.12. That’s a good price for Curnow, who has 15 goals from his last five games, so he averages three goals a game.
He kicked three last week in a losing effort against Sydney, despite Carlton scoring only 62 points. That bodes well for another 3+ goal performance against a GWS defence that allowed 95 points last week and 101 points two weeks ago.
Jesse Hogan pays short odds to score 2+ goals for GWS. He has 13 goals from his last five games, including seven against Geelong. His odds are short at $1.28, but those odds will boost same game multi payouts.
Over 169.5 is also included. It should be a high-scoring game, and the last two meetings have yielded 190 and 220 points.

Best Value Bet
Carlton’s Cooper Lord isn’t the name you think of when it comes to kicking goals, but we’re snapping up the generous odds.
Lord has already kicked a double this year, and although he only has one goal from his last four games, he’s due for another big scoring performance against a GWS defence that isn’t firing on all cylinders.
He’s worth including in picks at the current odds.
