Collingwood vs. Geelong Predictions
—
Best Bet
Collingwood -8.5 @ $1.90
It’s hard not to be impressed with Collingwood’s form, which sees it lead the AFL premiership with six wins and one loss. The Magpies have taken care of Essendon, Brisbane, and Sydney recently, so the form lines are good.
Their most impressive win was a 105-53 win over last year’s champions Brisbane, and the defence was stout. If their defence is anywhere near that level, Geelong will struggle to put points on the board, especially after losing 94-76 to Carlton last week.
That’s not a good form guide for Geelong, and although it looked good prior to that, Collingwood is good enough to cover a –8.5 spread with ease.
Same Game Multi
Collingwood H2H, Jamie Elliott 2+ Goals, Josh Diacos 25+ Disposals, Total Match Points Under 172.5 @ $7.00
Our AFL same game multi picks include Josh Daicos 25+ disposals, having posted totals of 30 and 36 over the last two games. He hasn’t been as impressive as Nick Daicos, but Nick is $1.17 with bookmakers and Josh is $1.48.
That’s a fair price for a form player, and the odds are good enough to include in multis. The same goes for Jamie Elliott 2+ goals at $1.76. He has 10 goals from his last three games, including five last week against Essendon.
He was the star performer last week, with Brody Mihochek scoring just one goal, and he should use that momentum to kick a double on Saturday.
Under 172.5 points is also worth including. Collingwood’s defence could stifle Geelong, and there was 162 points scored in their most recent meeting in 2024. Our score prediction has Collingwood winning 90-74.
Best Value Bet
Jamie Elliott First Goal Scorer @ $11.50
Elliott scored his first goal in the second quarter last week, with Nick Daicos scoring first, but Elliott could hit the ground running in Round 8.
He likes to get involved in the action early on, and we expect Collingwood to come out better than Geelong to set the early tone.
Punters get value odds for Elliott to score first at $11.50, and although it’s not an easy prediction, he has a high chance to kicking the first goal.
