Geelong vs. Essendon Predictions

Best Bet
Covering a –67.5 line isn’t easy, and Essendon wasn’t too bad last week, but the Cats should post one of the more one-sided wins of the year.
They scored a 151-56 win over the Bombers earlier this year, and punters should expect something similar. They almost come off a massive win over Port Adelaide, scoring a 153-65 win, and it’s their second consecutive game scoring 150+ points.
A third consecutive game could be on the cards against a Bombers team that is riding a lengthy losing streak, and they’re just trying to get to the offseason as quickly as possible. Take the Cats to score another big win and cover the spread.

They combined for 207 points when meeting in June, so we’re backing over 180.5 points in our AFL SGM picks. It should be another high-scoring game, with Geelong expected to push the 150-point mark for a third consecutive week.
Many of their goals could come from Jack Martin and Shannon Neale. The odds for Jeremy Cameron are too short to include, but Martin pays $1.90 to score 2+ goals and Neale is a $2.15 chance to score 3+ goals after scoring seven goals in his last two games.
They’re both in-form players, and although Cameron scoring 17 goals from his last two games takes away from opportunities for Martin and Neale, there will be plenty of chances to kick goals against Essendon.

The $9 available for Neale to score the first goal is a good price, and he could get the Cats off to a fast start on Friday.
Neale scored three goals last week against Port Adelaide, and many of his goals in 2025 have come early in the game.
Look for him to get forward and score a goal on the run.
