Best Bet
Consistency hasn’t been there for Port Adelaide and Adelaide, but the Crows it was hard not to be impressed with what Adelaide did to Carlton last week.
The 110-50 win should get them on the right track, and we have been impressed with their defence in limiting Carlton to 50 points and GWS to 34 points when scoring a 52-34 win. That was a fine defensive performance, and Port Adelaide scored only 41 points last week.
The Power have produced some good wins, but they are 12th on the AFL ladder, and it’s hard to know what they’ll produce week-to-week. There is too much uncertainty there, and Adelaide looks the more complete team.
Same Game Multi
We have backed Riley Thilthorpe over the last few weeks, and although he scored only one goal last week, we’re happy to stick with the Crows forward.
Thilthorpe has 11 goals over his last five games, including five goals against Gold Coast. That form stacks up nicely against a Port Adelaide defence that gave up a big score last week. Punters get only $1.54 for Thilthorpe to score 2+ goals, but it’s worth including in same game multis.
We also have Izak Rankine 25+ disposals, which bumps the odds. He’s a $2.60 chance to record 25+ disposals, having recorded 29 last week. A similar performance should get it done on Saturday, and it’s a good price for punters to include in multis.
Our last leg is under 176.5, mostly due to Port’s struggling offence. We don’t think Port Adelaide will score over 80 points, which should be enough for the under to cash.
Best Value Bet
There is every chance of Adelaide starting well and running away with the victory, and we thought a wire-to-wire victory would pay around $2.10.
Getting $2.55 is a generous price from bookmakers, especially after dominating the Blues last week from the outset. Adelaide’s attack is overwhelming when it’s firing, and with Port Adelaide struggling to fire, Adelaide should take advantage.
