Orange racing tips
—
Race 2. (13:20) Orange Motor Group Maiden (1010m)
#1 – Joey D’or @ $2.25
Joey D’or has the class edge over this field, and we expected bookmakers to offer something around $1.70.
The Bjorn Baker-trained runner owns three placings from five starts, including a placing at Kembla Grange and Gosford.
He comes off a trial win at Rosehill, so take the odds.
Race 4. (14:35) Spanline Orange & Bathurst (1410m)
#5 – Piggyback @ $2.40
Piggyback defeated a small field on debut, but it’s good enough form to measure up here.
The three-year-old filly paid $1.75 when scoring, and she was immediately spelled, which is always a good sign.
She needs luck from the draw, but punters should expect a nice effort.
Race 5. (15:10) Central West Power Construction BM58 (1010m)
#1 – Destiny’s Bounty @ $4.50
There is good value with Destiny’s Bounty, who comes off a win at Cowra.
The five-year-old gelding by Headwater is only a two-time winner from 17 starts, but getting 4kg off his back is tough to overlook.
Take the each-way odds and secure the value.
Race 7. (16:25) Ophir Hotel Orange Gold Cup (2110m)
#1 – Vincenzo @ $3.30
Vincenzo is seeking three wins on the bounce, and we’re not leaving him out of our picks.
The five-year-old son of Real Impact has yet to race at Orange, but he’s a five-time winner from 16 starts overall.
Our only worry is the weight, but class is on his side.
Cranbourne racing tips
—
Race 2. (17:15) R & C Asphalt Maiden (1000m)
#6 – Elba @ $3.00
Elba owns four placings from four starts overall, and it’s only a matter of time before she wins.
The three-year-old daughter of Fastnet Rock ran second at The Valley and Sandown last prep, so racing at Cranbourne is easier.
Take the value odds available with bookmakers.
Race 3. (17:45) Grand Ridge Arenas Maiden (1000m)
#7 – Think Rock @ $2.20
Think Rock is taking his time to find winning form, but we’re happy to back him at the short odds.
The four-year-old placed at Pakenham and Cranbourne, which is an excellent form guide for this race.
There isn’t much depth to this field, so include in selections.
Race 5. (18:45) Settlers Run C1 (1300m)
#3 – Licensed @ $2.60
Licensed won well on debut at Cranbourne, so having winning form on the track is ideal.
The three-year-old son of Charm Spirit won by seven lengths in blistering fashion before being spelled, and that’s a good sign.
He comes off a jumpout win, adding to our confidence levels.
Race 6. (19:15) Happy Retirement Imperatriz Maiden (1300m)
#2 – Hypeman @ $2.20
Hypeman has been heavily backed throughout the week following a trial win at Caulfield Heath.
The three-year-old son of Dundeel has shown good barrier speed throughout his career, and he has been beaten by some nice types.
Barrier three is ideal, so include him in horse racnig picks.
