Ascot horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (15:28) MacMahon 1MW (2200m)
#3 – Filthy Habits
Filthy Habits won well at Ascot earlier this preparation and he could get back to that form.
The four-year-old gelding by I’m All the Talk owns a win and a placing on the track, and he always shows good barrier speed.
That’s a positive for this race.
Race 2. (16:03) National Pump and Energy Plate (1000m)
#3 – Boyz Lite Up
Boyz Lite Up comes off a third placing at the Lark Hill trials, and he wasn’t asked for much on the line.
The two-year-old son of Playing God gets all favours off the inside draw, so he won’t have any excuses on debut.
Look for a betting push throughout the week.
Race 3. (16:39) Tabtouch Westspeed Platinum (1000m)
#3 – Divine Flirt
Divine Flirt is getting close to posting an overdue win after three placings from her last four starts.
The six-year-old daughter of Playing God ran second at her only start at Ascot, so that experience should help her cause.
Getting 2kg off her back adds to her appeal.
Race 4. (17:19) Vale Brian Richards Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Wubin Gold
Wubin Gold is unbeaten after two starts at Belmont, and that form bodes well for racing at Ascot.
The Webster-trained three-year-old won by 1.5 lengths last time out before spelling, which is an ideal form guide.
Look for a positive betting move on race day, which should come.
Race 5. (18:00) The Greycroft Trophy BM72 (1200m)
#3 – Live to Tell
Live to Tell owns two wins and two second placings from four starts, so she’s the one to beat.
The three-year-old filly by Territories ran second behind Super Smink last start, who ran in Group 1 races last preparation.
That form should be too good for this field.
Race 6. (18:42) Unite Resourcing BM66 (1000m)
#5 – Sky Duke
Sky Duke won well fresh up at Bunbury, and we’re happy to stick with him after two subsequent starts.
The four-year-old gelding owns four wins and four placings from 18 starts, including four placings at Ascot.
Punters should get each-way odds on race day.
Race 7. (19:17) Amelia Park BM66 (1600m)
#6 – Bonjoy
Looking to win three consecutive races is Bonjoy, who won at Pinjarra and Bunbury.
The four-year-old owns two wins at Ascot as well, so she’s capable of continuing her best form at the track.
Punters should be confident of her chances and take the odds available.
Race 8. (19:55) Reliable Asset Maintenance Detonator Stakes (1800m)
#2 – Marocchino
Marocchino isn’t the most consistent type going around, but he’s good enough to handle this field.
The seven-year-old is a 13-time winner overall, so he has class on his side, and nine of those wins have come at Ascot.
We’re happy to include him at each-way odds.
Race 9. (20:30) Black Diamond Drilling Services 1MW (1400m)
#3 – Cerridwyn
Cerridwyn is already a two-time winner this preparation and we fancy her chances of winning again.
The five-year-old mare has yet to win from two attempts at Ascot, but she has been going close with a placing.
We expect her to be fighting out the finish.
