Ascot horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (15:34) Amelia Park BM72 (1600m)
#7 – Mountain Ash @ $2.80
Mountain Ash comes off consecutive second placings, which is good enough form.
The Daniel Morton-trained five-year-old owns three wins and four placings from 11 starts at the track, so he loves racing here.
Dropping to 53kg is ideal.
Race 2. (16:11) Petaluma 1MW (1600m)
#2 – Special Sort @ $2.80
Special Sort is unbeaten from four starts this preparation, and we’re putting him on top again.
The four-year-old son of My Admiration is a two-time winner at Morphettville, and we’re not surprised by the money coming.
He should be right in the mix.
Race 3. (16:51) PKF Perth BM66 (1400m)
#12 – Yonga Lass @ $1.85
Yonga Lass is already a two-time winner this preparation, including last time out at Northam.
The four-year-old mare by Universal Ruler owns three wins from eight starts, with all three wins coming over the distance.
Dropping to 54kg with William Pike riding helps.
Race 4. (17:28) R.J. Peters Stakes (1500m)
#1 – Alsephina @ $2.60
Alsephina opened this preparation with a gutsy second placing, and it’s tough to find holes in her record.
She owns nine wins and three placings from 12 starts, with six wins coming at Ascot, so the form speaks for itself.
We thought her odds would be shorter.
Race 5. (18:07) Lexus of Perth Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m)
#3 – Keshi Boom @ $1.35
Punters must take short odds for Keshi Boom, but she looks to have a mortgage on this race.
The filly is unbeaten after three starts and she defeated a similar field last time out by over a length.
She is worth including in multis.
Race 6. (18:40) Jungle Mist Classic (1200m)
#7 – Duchess of Gossip @ $3.40
Duchess of Gossip has attracted plenty of attention and it’s not hard to see why.
The four-year-old mare owns five wins and two placings from eight starts, including three wins over the distance.
She’s good enough to put this field away.
Race 7. (19:17) Colonel Reeves Stakes (1100m)
#5 – Red Can Man @ $3
Red Can Man showed his class fresh up at Ascot before placing last time out behind Snowdome.
The seven-year-old is classy at best with nine wins and 16 placings from 43 starts, so we’re sticking with him.
Getting barrier five adds to his appeal.
Race 8. (19:55) Tabtouch Placid Ark Stakes (1200m)
#3 – Oscar’s Fortune @ $2.10
Oscar’s Fortune is unbeaten from four starts, so it’s tough to find any problems with his form.
The three-year-old son of Rich Enuff won by a half-length last time out at $1.35 odds, so punters get better odds this time around.
We’re taking the $2.10 before it shortens.
Race 9. (20:33) Bisley Workwear BM72 (1200m)
#6 – Metallon @ $6
Metallon is better for the fresh up run, and his form should improve nicely.
The five-year-old son of Oratoria owns four wins at Ascot from eight attempts, so the form checks out.
Having Pike riding helps his chances, so take the each-way odds.
