Belmont horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (14:29) Free Entry to Belmont Park 3YO (1000m)
#1 – Shell Bell @ $2.35
Shell Bell owns two wins from six starts, including a win at Ascot fresh up by 2.3 lengths.
The three-year-old filly didn’t fire last time out, but she has since been spelled before returning with a trial win.
Getting the inside draw with Pike riding helps.
Race 2. (15:06) Amelia Park 1MW (1000m)
#2 – On the Full @ $4.80
On the Full kicked off his preparation with consecutive wins before running seventh at Belmont last start.
The five-year-old doesn’t meet an overly tough field here, but the son of Rogano does his best racing at the track and distance.
We expect him to be fighting out the finish.
Race 3. (15:44) Tabtouch Platinum (1400m)
#4 – Fortune’s Luck @ $5.50
Fortune’s Luck is already a three-time winner this season, so there’s no reason to jump off her back.
The four-year-old daughter of Safeguard is unbeaten from two starts over the distance and three wins on soft going.
$5.50 is a great price from bookmakers.
Race 4. (16:19) Bernard Couch Memorial BM72 (2000m)
#2 – Crescent City @ $2.80
Crescent City is only a four-time winner from 33 starts, but he also owns 20 placings.
He’s incredibly consistent, and some of his best form comes at Belmont with two wins and eight placings.
Pike rides and that adds to his appeal.
Race 5. (16:55) Dr J Godfrey 85th Birthday (1200m)
#6 – Red Fifty Three @ $3.10
Red Fifty Three hasn’t won recently but he’s a three-time winner from nine starts overall.
The five-year-old son of Gingerbread Man owns all three wins at Belmont, so he loves racing on this surface.
Getting the inside barrier could be all he needs.
Race 6. (17:30) Congrats Holly Watson 1MW (1600m)
#9 – Starry Heights @ $4.20
Starry Heights could add to a big day for Pike, who teams up with the last-start Belmont winner.
The four-year-old son of Star Turn had to pick a path along the inside, which isn’t easy to do. Therefore, he’s a smart type.
$4.20 is likely to shorten on race day.
Race 7. (18:05) Congrats Neville Parnham BM66 (1400m)
#4 – First Encounter @ $1.90
First Encounter is gunning for his fourth consecutive win, so we’re happy with the short odds.
The four-year-old son of Dundeel is unbeaten from two starts at the track and distance, which is ideal form.
Pike rides and he could have a day out.
Race 8. (18:40) Jockey Celebration Day BM84 (1400m)
#3 – Alaskan God @ $3.80
Alaskan God went off the boil towards the end of his last prep, but he’s well worth sticking with.
The five-year-old son of Playing God owns five wins from 11 starts, so the form is on the board.
Punters get odds worth snapping up.
Race 9. (19:15) Congrats William Pike BM72 (1200m)
#6 – Premium Choice @ $9.50
Premium Choice owns five wins from 18 starts, which is a good clip, and he could win again on Saturday.
The six-year-old is a past winner on the track and he only needs a touch of luck from a tricky barrier.
Take the each-way odds available.
