Belmont horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (14:49) Tabtouch Westspeed Platinum (1600m)
#5 – Full of Merit
Full of Merit comes off three consecutive placings, and she doesn’t need to improve much to beat this field.
The four-year-old mare owns five placings from six starts, including one at Belmont, so the form checks out.
She faces race winners, but she’s just as good.
Race 2. (15:24) Ascot Opening Day 1MW (1000m)
#2 – Pacific Boxer
Pacific Boxer ended last campaign with consecutive wins, and he could hit the ground running this time in.
The five-year-old son of Rommel has yet to fire in three attempts at this track, but he has taken on tough opposition.
Barrier two is ideal and it could pay to look for a betting push.
Race 3. (16:04) Perth Racing Now Hiring Plate (1200m)
#1 – Auspicious
Auspicious hasn’t done much wrong in two runs back from a spell, including a win at Belmont.
The three-year-old filly by I Am Invincible didn’t have all favours during that run either, so it was a tough effort.
Punters could get each-way odds, so include her in selections.
Race 4. (16:44) Print Hall 1MW (1600m)
#3 – Californication
Californication is already a three-time winner this preparation, so his form is good enough to win here.
The son of Preferment is bred to enjoy this distance, and it’s only a matter of time before he wins over the mile.
Barrier four is ideal and punters should get each-way odds.
Race 5. (17:20) Amelia Park 1MW (1300m)
#1 – Mack Mack
Mack Mack hasn’t done much wrong throughout his career, including four wins and four placings from 14 starts.
The four-year-old son of All American won at Ascot two back before struggling here, but he could turn that run around.
Getting 3kg off his back is a bonus.
Race 6. (18:00) Perth Racing Club Membership (1400m)
#6 – Captain Crocket
Captain Crocket looked good earlier this preparation when winning at Northam.
The four-year-old hasn’t won or placed in three runs since, but having William Pike in the saddle could see that change.
Look for a betting push on race day.
Race 7. (18:35) Morley Growers Market BM66 (1400m)
#6 – Changing Guard
Changing Guard kicked off his career with three consecutive wins before running two solid races.
The four-year-old son of Impending owns three wins at Belmont, and there’s no reason why he can’t handle this field.
Dropping back in distance is another positive.
Race 8. (19:10) Tabtouch BM84 (1600m)
#7 – Aztec Ruler @ $1.65
Aztec Ruler is a four-time winner at Belmont, including his last two starts in fine style.
The four-year-old looks too good for this field, hence the short odds, and he’s worth including in horse racing multis.
The $1.65 could firm even shorter on race day.
Race 9. (19:45) Free Entry to Belmont BM72 (1200m)
#2 – Red Fifty Three
Red Fifty Three owns six wins from 13 starts, so he’s the most exciting thoroughbred in this race.
The five-year-old son of Gingerbread Man won all six races at Belmont, so he’s a course specialist.
Pike rides and punters shouldn’t expect big odds.
