Belmont horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (14:19) Mrs Macs BM72 (1400m)
#4 – Pompey
Pompey owns five wins from 11 starts, including three placings, so he’s a smart thoroughbred.
The four-year-old son of Xtravagant runs his best races over the distance, and he won paying $1.50 last time out.
William Pike rides, which drives the price down.
Race 2. (14:54) Tabtouch Westspeed Handicap (1000m)
#7 – Stevie’s May
Stevie’s May won well at Pinjarra before finishing third at Belmont, which is a solid form guide.
The four-year-old mare by Awesome Rock carries 52.5kg, which makes her awfully tough to beat at this level.
Look for a betting push on race day.
Race 3. (15:33) Ascot Opening Day October (1000m)
#2 – Red Square
Red Square won his first two starts at Belmont before struggling to pick them up last time out.
The three-year-old colt is better than that, so we expect a bounce back to winning form on Saturday, despite the hot field.
Punters could get each-way odds.
Race 4. (16:13) Amelia Park Plate (1400m)
#6 – Pleasure Cruise
Pleasure Cruise won well on debut at Belmont, and he looks good enough to rise through the grades.
The three-year-old son of Justify won by 1.5 lengths as a $2.25 chance, and it’s good to see Pike stick with him.
Punters shouldn’t expect big odds on Saturday.
Race 5. (16:53) Tabtouch BM66 (1000m)
#7 – Crypto Queen
Crypto Queen is a model of consistency after posting a win and seven placings from 10 starts.
The daughter of Sessions has yet to win at Belmont, but with seven placings, it’s about time she crossed the line first.
Stick with her until she wins another race.
Race 6. (17:33) Quokka Slot BM66 (2000m)
#2 – Romancing the Rock
Romancing the Rock was too good for them at Belmont last start, so he’s worth sticking with.
The five-year-old son of Awesome Rock is a four-time winner from 16 starts, and it’s another good ride for Pike.
There is no reason to jump off his back.
Race 7. (18:10) Morley Growers Market BM66 (1600m)
#7 – Changing Guard
Changing Guard is a three-time winner on the track, so we’re happy to put him on top.
He won three on the bounce earlier this preparation before running second last time out, which is a good form guide.
Carrying 55kg makes him tough to hold out.
Race 8. (18:50) Black Heart Bart Stakes (1200m)
#6 – River Rubicon @ $4.20
River Rubicon is always around the mark with seven wins and eight placings from 18 starts.
The five-year-old son of Rubick owns two wins and three placings on the track, so he enjoys racing here.
Getting $4.20 is slightly better than expected, so put him in your selections.
Race 9. (19:28) Free Entry to Belmont Park 1MW (1200m)
#3 – Saloon Bar
Saloon Bar is getting close to scoring a win this preparation after three placings.
The four-year-old gelding by Sessions owns four placings from six attempts at Belmont, and it’s about time he won here.
Look for value odds from bookmakers.
