Caulfield horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:15) Ive Handicap (1000m)
#1 – Traffic Warden @ $1.80
Traffic Warden finished second on debut at Rosehill behind Storm Boy, which is a good form guide.
The two-year-old colt by Street Boss looks to have plenty of ability, hence the shortening odds since opening at $2.
Having Jamie Kah riding is a bonus.
Race 2. (12:45) Evergreen Turf BM100 (2400m)
#3 – Alhambra Lad @ $3.20
Alhambra Lad looked good earlier this season when winning consecutive races, and he could get back to his best form.
The stayer hasn’t been at his best recently, but this field is there for the taking, and he’s unbeaten in three starts at the distance.
That’s good enough for us to include him.
Race 3. (13:20) Millennium Services Group BM70 (1600m)
#5 – Fullproof @ $3.60
Fullproof is already a two-time winner from four starts, including a classy win at The Valley last time out.
A repeat of that effort would be enough to beat this field, and punters get better odds than expected.
Expect her price to shorten on race day, so take the $3.60.
Race 4. (13:55) Bertocchi Simply the Best BM78 (1400m)
#8 – Running By @ $2.45
Running By is getting close to breaking through after consecutive second placings, so we’re sticking with her.
The four-year-old daughter of Impending has yet to race at Caulfield, but she has made a good start to her career.
We’re not surprised by the favouritism.
Race 5. (14:30) Schweppes BM70 (1200m)
#8 – Le Derriere @ $7.50
Le Derriere is better for recent racing, including a second placing at Moonee Valley last time out.
That was a nice performance behind No Drama, and punters get each-way value odds to snap up on race day.
Barrier five is ideal, so she should get a dream trip in transit.
Race 6. (15:05) Quayclean BM70 (2000m)
#7 – Blue Moon @ $4.40
Blue Moon is only a three-time winner, but one of those came last time out at The Valley.
The six-year-old mare by Shocking has yet to race at Caulfield, but this is only her second run in Australia.
The former Kiwi looks to have a bright future in Australia.
Race 7. (15:40) Neds Supersized Saturday BM70 (1200m)
#3 – Jambalaya @ $1.90
Jambalaya couldn’t have been more impressive on debut when winning at The Valley.
The three-year-old gelding led throughout the race and kicked clear, so it was a professional outing.
We’re happy to include him in selections at the short odds.
Race 8. (16:20) Hyland Race Colours BM70 (1400m)
#4 – Tasman Park @ $5
Tasman Park is a big type, and although he hasn’t won for some time, he has been right around the mark.
The five-year-old gelding owns three wins and five placings from 10 starts, so he’s a model of consistency so far.
Getting 2kg off his back is a bonus.
Race 9. (17:00) Stow Robotics Handicap (1400m)
#8 – Our Redente @ $4.80
The Jerome Hunter-trained gelding doesn’t have the most impressive form, but he’s a four-time winner from 13 starts.
He comes off a second placing at Caulfield, which turned his form around, and he is a past second-up winner.
Carrying 54kg is ideal.
Race 10. (17:40) Catanach’s Jewellers BM84 (1200m)
#7 – Prowling @ $13
Prowling has yet to win from four attempts at Caulfield, but he enjoys running on dry tracks.
The five-year-old gelding by Wolf Cry loves running at the distance with two wins and eight placings.
Punters get value odds, and they’re worth snapping up.
