Caulfield horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:15) Beck Grand BM80 (1700m)
#4 – Kettle Hill @ $6
Kettle Hill is better for his fresh up effort when running fifth at Sandown, so we’re sticking with him.
The seven-year-old son of Gleneagles has yet to race at Caulfield, but he has enough class to get the job done.
Take the each-way odds available with bookmakers for the loose favourite.
Race 2. (12:50) Thoroughbred Club Plate (1200m)
#2 – Appin Girl @ $2.60
Appin Girl kicked off her career with wins at Sunshine Coast and Eagle Farm, so she showed plenty of ability early on.
The three-year-old daughter of Capitalist then ran third behind Cifrado at Doomben before winning a trial at Doomben.
Coming to Melbourne won’t be easy, but she has speed to burn, and the market is confident.
Race 3. (13:25) Neds Herbert Power Stakes (2400m)
#8 – Carini @ $2.50
Carini looks to have a nice future, and it was good seeing him show his best in Australia last time out.
The imported son of Siyouni won nicely at Flemington, and we don’t think changing to Caulfield hinders his chances at all.
Getting the inside draw with only 53kg on his back makes him awfully tough to beat.
Race 4. (14:00) Senet Northwood Plume Stakes (1200m)
#6 – Seradess @ $6.50
Seradess runs at value odds following a tidy second placing at Caulfield behind Cardigan Queen.
The five-year-old mare has yet to show her best form at Caulfield, with just one placing from five starts, but this race is there for the taking.
She loves the distance, and we love the odds.
Race 5. (14:35) Metcap Finance Schillaci Stakes (1100m)
#7 – Asfoora @ $2.25
Asfoora pushed Imperatriz close last start, and Imperatriz is one of the best sprinters in Australasia.
The Henry Dwyer-trained sprinter owns seven wins from 13 starts, and she owns three wins at Caulfield from four attempts.
This looks like her race to lose.
Race 6. (15:10) The Big Screen Company Weekend Hussler (1400m)
#9 – Rubamos @ $6.50
There are no standout runners in the Weekend Hussler this year, so punters should take the value odds with Rubamos.
The Chris Waller-trained gelding ran well for fifth behind Airman at Randwick, and coming to Melbourne only helps his chances.
Having Joao Moreira riding helps, and carrying 54kg is another positive, so take the generous odds from bookmakers.
Race 8. (16:30) Catanach’s Jewellers Vase (1600m)
#10 – Wishlor Lass @ $3.40
Wishlor Lass couldn’t have been more impressive when winning at Sandown last start, so we’re happy to stick with her.
The Symon Wilde-trained five-year-old owns four wins from six starts, so she is amassing an impressive record early in her career.
Her odds have drifted a touch, but we’re not concerned.
