Caulfield horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (13:30) Ive BM70 (1600m)
#4 – Mojave Desert @ $4.80
Mojave Desert hasn’t been too far off the mark in seven career starts, including a second placing at Warwick Farm.
The three-year-old colt by I Am Invincible followed it up with two fifths at Flemington and The Valley, so the form checks out.
We’re happy with the each-way odds punters get.
Race 2. (14:05) Neds Coongy Cup (2000m)
#12 – Gregolimo @ $3.70
Gregolimo is a former French runner who finished second at Flemington last time out behind Muramasa.
The six-year-old gelding by Galiway is good enough to turn the tables on Muramasa, and having that run under his belt helps.
Carrying 54kg makes him tough to beat.
Race 3. (14:40) Magic Millions Debutant Stakes (1000m)
#5 – First Settler @ $4.80
First Settler is on debut for the Price/Kent stable and he looks to have a bright future.
The two-year-old son of Written Tycoon has shown good form at the jumpouts, and getting the inside draw is ideal.
$4.80 is a fair price from bookmakers in what is an open field.
Race 4. (15:15) Neds Punters Toolbox BM84 (2400m)
#7 – Insulation @ $2.05
Insulation scored consecutive wins earlier this preparation before running second at Flemington, which is an ideal form guide.
The five-year-old son of Intello owns three wins and two placings from six starts and dropping to 52.5kg makes him tough to beat.
We’re not surprised by the short odds available.
Race 5. (15:50) Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives BM78 (2000m)
#7 – Shock ‘Em Ova @ $2.40
Shock ‘Em Ova capped off three consecutive placings with a win at Caulfield, and we’re happy to stick with it.
The five-year-old son of Shocking should appreciate the rise in distance, and he owns a win and two placings from three starts at 2000m.
Craig Williams is riding in stellar form, so that’s another positive.
Race 6. (16:25) Catanach’s Jewellers Trophy BM78 (1100m)
#2 – Dancing Alone @ $3.30
Dancing Alone was too slick for them last time out at Flemington and a repeat effort could be on the cards.
The four-year-old mare by I Am Invincible is a five-time winner from six starts, and running at Caulfield shouldn’t be a problem.
Money has come for her throughout the week.
Race 7. (17:05) Spicer Thoroughbred Grassroots Gallop BM70 (1440m)
#6 – Belthil @ $12
Belthil was solid enough at Benalla last start, which followed a tidy effort for sixth at Flemington.
The four-year-old gelding Telperion is a three-time winner from nine starts, so he knows how to cross the line first.
Double-figure odds are worth snapping up.
Race 8. (17:45) Marshall White Trophy BM84 (1440m)
#15 – Tasman Park @ $5.50
Tasman Park is a model of consistency with three wins and five placings from nine starts overall.
The five-year-old son of Ocean Park ran well for second at Flemington, and that form stacks up well, despite rising in class.
Carrying 55kg should offset the rise in class.
