Cranbourne horse racing tips

Race 1. (18:15) Silks Cranbourne Maiden (1000m)

#4 – The Brill Building @ $3 – Bet @ Bet365

The Brill Building finished third on debut at Sale and he’s expected to go one better this preparation.

The three-year-old son of Overshare had good betting support on debut at $4.20, so we’re not surprised by his price.

Barrier three is ideal and his odds could firm on race night.

Race 2. (18:45) Dual Code Night Out Maiden (1200m)

#11 – Shakattak @ $2.40 – Bet @ Bet365

Shakattak was a tragedy beaten on debut at Wangaratta and we’re sticking with the three-year-old gelding.

He settled too far back before flashing home late in traffic, so with clear air he would have broken through first-up.

The $2.40 could firm to around $2.

Race 3. (19:15) Hertz F&M Maiden (1200m)

#9 – Nunthorpe @ $3.20 – Bet @ Bet365

Nunthorpe looked good when winning a jumpout at Pakenham and she has plenty of upside.

The three-year-old filly by Playing God has breeding on her side and there has been solid betting moves for her since markets opened.

Jamie Kah rides and that’s likely to drive down the odds.

Race 4. (19:45) O’Brien Real Estate Maiden (1600m)

#9 – Crimson Light @ $4 – Bet @ Bet365

Crimson Light didn’t have any luck at The Valley last start, so punters should stick with the favourite.

The four-year-old daughter of Redwood ran fifth behind Lady Jones, which followed a tidy debut effort at Pakenham.

Punters get fair odds for a progressive type and she has plenty of upside.

Race 5. (20:15) Browns Sawdust & Shavings BM64 (1600m)

#3 – Jaffastock @ $4.20 – Bet @ Bet365

Jaffastock has been threatening to win this preparation and we’re keeping the faith with the three-time winner.

The five-year-old son of Tavistock comes off a sixth at Sandown behind Ima Shelby and we expect that form to hold up.

He’s worth one more chance at the each-way odds.

Race 6. (20:45) De Bortoli Wines BM64 (1000m)

#1 – Mutinous @ $2.70 – Bet @ Bet365

Mutinous is seeking three consecutive wins after scoring at Tatura and Moonee Valley, so there’s no reason to jump off his back.

The son of Rich Enuff won at Tatura by three lengths before winning by three lengths at The Valley in a 955m race, which isn’t easy to do.

It bodes well for his future and the $2.70 is a fair price.

Race 7. (21:15) Procon Developments Handicap (2600m)

#2 – Meiner Legacy @ $3.30 – Bet @ Bet365

Meiner Legacy won fresh up at Casterton and anything close to that effort should be good enough.

The five-year-old son of Rulership has since run well with a placing at The Valley and a last-start fourth at Sandown, so the form checks out.

Barrier five helps and punters should take the $3.30 before it firms.

Race 8. (21:45) Ladbrokes Punter Assist C1 (1400m)

#5 – Girello @ $4.80 – Bet @ Bet365

Girello ran well enough for sixth fresh up at The Valley and we’re confident of an improved performance.

The four-year-old son of Reward for Effort has yet to win from three attempts at Cranbourne but he has been close with three placings.

Getting 3kg off his back helps and punters should be confident.
