Doomben racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (12:52) Drinkwise Maiden (1650m)
#6 – Araminta
Araminta needs luck from the wide draw, but the three-year-old filly has ability.
She owns three placings from six starts, and she wasn’t all that far away when fourth at Doomben last time out.
We expect her to be fighting out the finish.
Race 2. (13:27) Ladbrokes Yard Comments Handicap (1650m)
#1 – Transatlantic
Transatlantic was too smart for them at Eagle Farm last time out, and he’s good enough to kick on with it.
The three-year-old son of Snitzel owns two wins and two placings from five starts, and most of that form has come at Doomben.
Carrying 60kg is tough, but he has upside.
Race 3. (14:03) Stradbroke Season on Sale Maiden (1200m)
#2 – Adranos
The three-year-old did well to run third on debut at Doomben, and he only needs luck from the wide draw.
He has drawn barrier 15, but he could have enough barrier speed to cross the field and lead throughout.
Look for a betting push on race day.
Race 4. (14:38) Cascade Maiden (1200m)
#8 – Margot’s Bullseye
Margot’s Bullseye wasn’t too far behind them last preparation, and she could kick things off with a win.
The three-year-old daughter of I Am Invincible comes off a trial placing at Doomben, and she’s another runner that needs luck from the draw.
Punters should get each-way odds.
Race 5. (15:13) Sky Racing C1 (1110m)
#12 – Torque About Magic
Torque About Magic owns a win and four placings from eight starts, including a second placing at Doomben.
The Stuart Kendrick-trained filly looks to have plenty of ability, and there are no superstars in this field.
Getting 2kg off her back adds to her appeal.
Race 6. (15:48) Mullins Lawyers BM65 (1650m)
#1 – Cool Encounter
Cool Encounter is never too far away from the mark, including 18 starts for four wins and seven placings.
The five-year-old gelding by Fighting Sun has yet to win at Doomben, but he has been close with two placings.
Getting 3kg off his back helps.
Race 7. (16:23) Become a BRC Member C2 (1350m)
#5 – Valantino Roc
Valantino Roc was too good for them at Doomben, and back-to-back wins are on the table.
It’s a tricky midweek field for the four-year-old, but he’s a two-time winner at Doomben and at the distance.
We’re happy to take the each-way odds.
Race 8. (16:58) XXXX Gold Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Eaglemont
Eaglemont has been consistent throughout his career, including six wins and nine placings from 28 starts.
The seven-year-old son of Camelot has finished in the first two at Doomben in three of his four starts, which is ideal form.
Punters could get value odds on race day.
Race 9. (17:33) Ladbrokes Communities BM65 (1200m)
#2 – I Am Takingthelot
I Am Takingthelot might need the run, but she could surprise on race day.
The Tony Gollan-trained mare owns two wins and four placings from 10 starts, so she has been right around the mark.
We’re happy to include her in selections.
Race 10. (18:10) Souths Sports Club BM65 (1200m)
#2 – Pole Position
Pole Position has been knocking on the door after posting four third placings from his last five starts.
The five-year-old gelding by Astern doesn’t know how to run a bad race at the distance, and getting 3kg off his back is ideal.
It’s a tough field, but he has upside.
