Doomben horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (12:33) BRC Membership on Sale Now Maiden (1660m)
#8 – Shy Guy
Shy Guy ran fourth fresh up at Eagle Farm, which should be the best form guide for this contest.
The three-year-old son of Saxon Warrior is in the hands of Chris Waller, so it shouldn’t take him long to breakthrough for the win.
We expect him to be fighting out the finish.
Race 2. (13:08) Cascade Maiden (1200m)
#5 – Quade
Quade comes off consecutive placings to start his career, and it shouldn’t take him long to win.
The three-year-old son of Sidestep ran second at Sunshine Coast before placing at Doomben, so the form checks out.
We expect him to ride the speed and kick strongly.
Race 3. (13:43) Country Music Raceday BM75 (1660m)
#1 – Menazzi
Menazzi is a four-time winner from 20 starts, including five placings, so the form is on the board.
The son of Pride of Dubai has yet to win at Doomben, but all four wins came on good tracks and he should get conditions to suit.
Getting 3kg off his back adds to his appeal.
Race 4. (14:18) Sky Racing BM68 (2060m)
#7 – Mighty Willie
Mighty Willie should appreciate this level of racing after running close last time out.
The Waller-trained gelding owns two wins and four placings from 13 starts, and the former Sydney-based runner has more ability than most here.
Punters could get generous odds on race day.
Race 5. (14:53) Encryption 1st Season Sire Maiden (1200m)
#10 – Maid to Flirt
Made to Flirt has yet to win from five starts, but the four-year-old mare is getting close.
The daughter of Snitzel is bred for speed, and she showed that when recording two placings at Doomben last prep.
Barrier four is ideal and we expect to see betting moves.
Race 6. (15:28) Spring Carnival on Sale BM70 (1200m)
#3 – Pocket Full
Pocket Full looked strong when winning consecutive races to kick-start this preparation, and he can get back to that form.
The four-year-old gelding is a three-time winner from 12 starts, and getting 3kg could see his best form return.
It’s not an easy race, but he has more upside than most here.
Race 7. (16:03) Ladbrokes Racing Club C3 (1350m)
#5 – Acrophobic
Acrophobic is better than what he showed last preparation, so we’re giving him another chance.
He has changed stables since running down the track at Scone, and the new environment could see his best form return.
Punters should get double-figure odds, and they’re worth taking.
Race 8. (16:38) XXXX Gold C1 (1200m)
#7 – Thankful Heart
Thankful Heart won well two back at Ipswich before placing, so the Annabel Neasham-trained runner is going well.
The five-year-old went down fighting behind Boom Torque, which is a good form guide for this level of racing.
Barrier 12 isn’t easy, but he should go close.
