Race 1. (13:13) Gallopers Sports Club Handicap (1110m)
#5 – Miss Busslinger @ $2.20
Miss Busslinger wasn’t too far away when fourth at Sunshine Coast on debut, and she has been backed to improve.
The two-year-old filly by Saxon Warrior opened at $2.25 and has been bet into $2.20, which is a solid move for the favourite.
She could break through on Saturday.
Race 2. (13:48) Racecourse Village Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Fukubana @ $1.60
Fukubana runs at short odds but it’s not surprising given his odds.
The three-year-old colt by Dundeel ran third last time out, but that followed a second placing at Rosehill behind a nice type.
He should win, so include him in multis.
Race 3. (14:23) Drinkwise BM85 (2000m)
#7 – Chernak @ $7
Chernak finished 16.1 lengths when pulling up last time out but expect a quick bounce back.
The six-year-old gelding is a four-time winner from 18 starts, including one over the distance, and it’s being respected with bookmakers.
Being from the Waller stable, we’re happy to include him.
Race 4. (14:58) Stradbroke Season on Sale Now BM68 (1600m)
#15 – Smooth Torque @ $3.70
Smooth Torque is looking to go back-to-back after scoring at Doomben by just under a length.
The four-year-old daughter of Sebring rarely finishes too far away from the prize, and getting down in the weights is ideal.
Having Ryan Maloney in the saddle is another positive.
Race 5. (15:33) Cascade C1 Handicap (1350m)
#1 – Russian Mystic @ $6.50
Russian Mystic won well fresh up at Doomben before placing on this track last time out.
He loves racing on this track, and we’re surprised by the odds. We thought he would be shorter, so take the value price.
He’s good enough to carry the big weight over this distance.
Race 6. (16:08) Girls Day Out on Sale Now C3 (1200m)
#8 – Damo Dayz @ $4.50
Damo Dayz is unbeaten after two starts, having scored at Eagle Farm.
The four-year-old son of Cable Bay won by a half-length on debut before winning by just under a length last start.
Getting the inside draw could be enough to justify the each-way odds.
Race 7. (16:47) Sky Racing BM85 (1200m)
#3 – Enterprise Pomme @ $6
Enterprise Pomme finished eighth fresh up, but she was only 2.5 lengths behind the winner.
The five-year-old daughter of Spill the Beans looked handy last prep when scoring at Doomben, which is a good form guide.
She’s a three-time winner on the track, so take the odds.
Race 8. (17:27) XXXX BM78 (1600m)
#5 – Anythink Goes @ $2.20
Anythink Goes is overdue a win after posting consecutive second placings at Randwick and Rosehill.
Form in Sydney holds up strongly in Queensland, and he deserves to be at short odds for this level of racing.
Include him in horse racing bets for Saturday.
Race 9. (18:10) Become a Member Handicap (1350m)
#3 – Boom Torque @ $2.60
Boom Torque owns five wins from nine starts, so it’s tough to bet against the four-year-old gelding.
The son of Spirit of Boom won well at Gold Coast last start, which was a tough race, so the form checks out.
He only needs luck from the wide barrier to win.
Race 10. (18:50) Ladbrokes Racing Club BM78 (1350m)
#11 – Awol @ $8
Awol comes off two wins from his last three starts, including fresh up at Rockhampton.
It’s harder to win races at Doomben, and it’s his first start on the track, but he has enough speed to beat this field.
The former Victorian runs at value odds considering his weight.
