Doomben horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (12:33) Ladbrokes Yard Comments Maiden (1050m)
#10 – Remlaps Angel
Remlaps Angel ran well for second on debut at Sunshine Coast, and she could go one better.
The three-year-old filly was under a length behind the winner as a $4.20 chance, so punters should expect similar odds.
Look for a betting push on race day.
Race 2. (13:08) Cascade Maiden (1050m)
#3 – Hell and Back
Hell and Back did enough when running third on debut to impress, and he has improvement to come.
The Tony Gollan-trained three-year-old looked good in preparation for that run with a trial win at Doomben, so he should enjoy racing on this track.
Barrier three is ideal and Angela Jones riding is a positive.
Race 3. (13:43) Spring Carnival on Sale Now C1 (1050m)
#2 – Thankful Heart
Thankful Heart has shown plenty of speed this preparation after posting a win and multiple placings.
The five-year-old son of Mikki Isle won at Ipswich by 1.5 lengths before adding a placing at Doomben last time out.
That was a tricky field, so he should find this easier.
Race 4. (14:18) Sky Racing Maiden (1200m)
#1 – Brasco
Brasco has improved nicely this preparation after running fourth at Eagle Farm fresh up.
The Chris Waller-trained son of Street Boss was only 1.2 lengths behind the winner, and there isn’t much depth to this field.
He should be able to take advantage.
Race 5. (14:53) BRC Membership Maiden (1200m)
#5 – Island Tide
Island Tide is a model of consistency after posting seven placings from 11 starts, so she’s overdue a winning performance.
The David Vandyke-trained mare comes off a second placing at Gold Coast, and she’s worth sticking with until she wins.
Getting the inside draw could be enough.
Race 6. (15:28) XXXX Gold BM70 (1650m)
#10 – Quadri
Quadri owns two wins and three placings from five starts, so it has been a nice start for the mare.
She won by just under a length at Sunshine Coast last time out, and rising through the grades won’t be too difficult for her.
Barrier two with 55kg is ideal.
Race 7. (16:03) Encryption Champion C2 (2060m)
#13 – Affectionate
Affectionate didn’t fire at Sunshine Coast last time out, but her win two back is a much better form guide.
The four-year-old daughter of Sebring should get all favours with only 54kg on her back, and punters should get each-way odds.
We expect a bounce back effort.
Race 8. (16:38) Ladbroke It C4 (1200m)
#8 – Storm the Fortress
Storm the Fortress started his career with three consecutive wins before struggling at Doomben last start.
The Edmonds-trained runner didn’t handle open class, but his wins at Gold Coast were all terrific, so he has ability.
Look for a betting push off the inside draw.
Race 9. (17:13) Gallopers Sports Club BM65 (1350m)
#3 – Motion Legend
Motion Legend won well two back before hitting the line well enough last time out.
The four-year-old son of Deep Field owns two wins and four placings from nine starts, so he hasn’t done much wrong.
Barrier three is ideal, so include him in selections.
