Moonee Valley racing tips

Race 1. (18:15) Alinta Energy Maiden (1600m)
#8 – Limburg @ $2.25
Limburg has been close to winning after posting three placings from seven starts, so we’re putting him on top.
The three-year-old was a $1 million purchase, so he has some winning to do, but he showed improvement as a gelding when placing last start.
Give him another chance here.
Race 3. (19:15) That’s Better Maiden (1200m)
#10 – Happy Link @ $3.30
Happy Link has been well-backed on debut after winning a jumpout, which should be a solid form guide.
The three-year-old filly is a half-sister to Gin Martini, so she’s well-related and ready to win on debut off the inside draw.
It could pay to follow any race day moves.
Race 5. (20:15) Award Winning BM64 (2500m)
#3 – Untethered @ $3.90
Looking to cap off four consecutive second placings is Untethered, who is looming to win another race.
The Mike Moroney-trained gelding owns a win and seven placings from 14 starts, so it won’t take much to win again.
His second placing at Caulfield last start bodes well.
Race 7. (21:15) Alinta Energy Lunar New Year BM70 (888m)
#9 – Nokhbah @ $2.40
Nokhbah needs to show early pace from the draw over this distance, but she has shown excellent speed so far.
The five-year-old daughter of I Am Invincible owns two wins and two placings from four starts, and we’re not worried by the drifting odds.
That’s mostly to do with the wide draw.

Canterbury racing tips

Race 2. (18:30) Drinkwise Maiden (1250m)
#3 – Gaylord @ $4
Gaylord ran second on debut at Canterbury when finishing two lengths behind Amoreaux.
We expect that form to hold up against a similar field, and punters get each-way odds for the risk.
Barrier five is ideal, so include him in selections.
Race 4. (19:30) Tab BM72 (1100m)
#5 – Wild Botanica @ $2.40
Wild Botanica turned her form around when running second at Warwick Farm last start, and she’s a quality type at best.
The four-year-old daughter of Spieth was only a length behind the winner, who has subsequently run well on Saturday.
She’s worth including in multis.
Race 6. (20:30) Bivouac First Yearlings BM64 (1900m)
#5 – Cosmic Lad @ $2.80
Cosmic Lad was too good for them when winning at Newcastle by 2.8 lengths, so that’s our best form guide.
The three-year-old son of Adelaide had experience at Canterbury when running fourth on debut, only 1.4 lengths behind the winner.
That form is good enough to be competitive as a favourite.
Race 8. (21:30) The Agency Real Estate BM72 (1100m)
#3 – Shines @ $6.50
Shines is better for two runs back from a spell and he’s ready to show his best.
The five-year-old son of Dream Ahead owns three starts for a win and a placing at Canterbury, so his track form is ideal.
Punters get excellent each-way value.
