Flemington horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:15) Howden Australian Guineas Day BM100 (1600m)
#2 – Bermadez @ $1.85
Bermadez is getting awfully close to a win after three consecutive second placings.
The Michael Moroney-trained runner is a six-time winner overall, so he has the class to put this field away.
We’re not surprised by the odds-on price.
Race 2. (12:45) VRC Life Member Robert Lane BM78 (2520m)
#8 – Galilaeus @ $2.10
Money is with Galilaeus who needed the fresh up run at The Valley and Flemington should suit.
The four-year-old son of Galileo won consecutive races in England before coming to Australia, and rising in distance is right up his alley.
We expect him to be winning this race at the light weight.
Race 3. (13:20) Tour D’Horse Trophy 0MW (1200m)
#5 – Rich Lover @ $4.80
Rich Lover won well two back at Bendigo before placing at Flemington behind Empressive Enuff.
We expect that form to stack up nicely against this level of opposition, including a placing at his only start on the track.
Punters should take the each-way odds.
Race 4. (13:55) Be a Mate, Nominate BM78 (1100m)
#7 – Stefi Magnetica @ $2.70
Stefi Magnetica is searching for three consecutive wins having scored at Wellington and Orange.
That’s country form, but she was impressive when winning by two lengths last time out, so the form checks out.
She’s good enough to handle this level of racing.
Race 5. (14:30) Black Caviar Race Day BM78 (1100m)
#2 – Sans Doute @ $3.50
Sans Doute comes off a win at Flemington and it’s good enough to win back-to-back.
The Kiwi runner owns four wins and five placings from 12 starts, and getting weight off her back should help.
Her odds have drifted but we’re happy to take them.
Race 6. (15:05) VRC Life Member John Dale BM70 (1600m)
#5 – Botany @ $4.40
Botany showed good improvement fresh up when third, and she was hitting the line well enough.
The five-year-old daughter of American Pharoah is a three-time winner overall, which is a tidy record.
Getting 1.5kg off her back helps, and punters get fair each-way odds.
Race 7. (15:40) VRC Super Saturday BM84 (1200m)
#3 – Rey Magnerio @ $3
Looking to win his fourth consecutive race is Rey Magnerio, who won at Flemington two starts back before winning again at Geelong.
The four-year-old son of Magnus is a five-time winner from seven starts, so there’s nothing wrong with his overall record.
We’re taking the $3 available.
Race 8. (16:20) Australian Cup Race Day BM70 (2000m)
#10 – Torranzino @ $11
Torranzino didn’t have any favours fresh up before finishing fourth at Warrnambool.
The four-year-old gelding by Tarzino is a two-time winner over the distance, so we’re happy to include him in our selections.
Punters get double-figure odds to enjoy.
Race 9. (17:00) VRC Life Member Daniel Connell BM84 (1400m)
#10 – Bel Air @ $4
Bel Air fought gamely to win at Flemington last time out and a repeat could be on the cards.
The four-year-old gelding by Written Tycoon owns three wins and eight placings from 15 starts, including two wins over 1400m.
Barrier five is ideal, and the odds appeal.
Race 10. (17:40) VRC Life Member Anthony Yencken BM70 (1000m)
#2 – Wiggum @ $6.50
Wiggum is already a two-time winner this preparation, including a win at Flemington two starts back.
The three-year-old son of Rich Enuff is a three-time winner from six starts, so it’s tough to pick holes in his form.
We thought his odds would be a fraction shorter.
