Happy Valley horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (22:10) Mercury Handicap (2200m)
#2 – Turin Mascot
Turin Mascot won well two starts back at Happy Valley before running well enough last time out at Sha Tin.
The four-year-old gelding by Caravaggio was only 2.5 lengths behind the winner last start, and having Zac Purton riding helps.
Barrier two adds to his appeal, so we’re putting him on top.
Race 2. (22:40) Venus Handicap (1200m)
#10 – Happily Friends
Happily Friends looked to be closing in on a win earlier this preparation, so he’s overdue.
The seven-year-old son of Requinto is only a two-time winner from 45 starts, but having Purton in the saddle could see his form improve.
Look for each-way odds on race night.
Race 3. (23:10) Mars Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Winning Heart
Winning Heart is better for two starts this preparation, including a two-length sixth at Happy Valley last start.
The four-year-old has yet to show his best form in Hong Kong since winning on debut at Navan, but the ability is there.
Look for each-way odds on race night.
Race 4. (23:40) Jupiter Handicap (1000m)
#9 – Diamond Soars
Diamond Soars looked good winning consecutive races earlier this preparation, so that form is the best for this race.
The five-year-old son of Deep Field was only 1.2 lengths behind the winner last start, and getting barrier four is ideal.
He’s another each-way type with upside.
Race 5. (00:10) Saturn Handicap (1650m)
#6 – Chill Chibi
Chill Chibi owns four wins from five starts, including four on the bounce.
The four-year-old son of Wrote won by a length at Happy Valley last start, which is an excellent form guide.
Getting some weight relief with Jerry Chau in the saddle.
Race 6. (00:45) Uranus Handicap (1650m)
#2 – Simply Maverick
Simply Maverick turned his form around in a big way last time out, winning by 4.8 lengths in dominant fashion.
The four-year-old son of Sebring paid $4.80 on that occasion, but bookmakers should have shorter odds available on Wednesday.
Barrier 10 makes it tricky, but the penny might have dropped.
Race 7. (01:15) Mars Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Exuberant
Exuberant gets the services of James McDonald, who could be enough to see him get back to winning form.
The six-year-old son of Free Eagle is only a two-time winner from 28 starts, but one of those wins came in October.
We expect decent odds on race night.
Race 8. (01:50) Neptune Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Tomodachi Kokoroe
The five-year-old is always tough to beat, including 19 starts for eight wins and three placings.
He comes off a half-length win at Happy Valley, so having recent winning form at the track is ideal.
Barrier 11 is the only negative, but he has upside.
