Happy Valley horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (21:45) Bellflower Handicap (2200m)
#4 – Loyal Ambition
Loyal Ambition scored by a length two starts back at Happy Valley and we’re hoping that form returns.
The five-year-old wasn’t far away when fourth last time out, and although he’s only a one race winner, he has upside.
He just needs some luck from a wide barrier.
Race 2. (22:15) Cornflower Handicap (1000m)
#8 – Tronic Mighty
Tronic Mighty has been threatening to win another race this preparation after scoring fresh up.
The five-year-old followed it up with three placings from four starts, so he’s getting close, and this is his favourite track.
He has yet to win or place in 10 starts at Sha Tin, so staying at Happy Valley is where he’s happy.
Race 3. (22:45) Hyacinth Handicap (1650m)
#4 – Diamond Diamond
Diamond Diamond ran fifth on debut at Happy Valley, but seeing Zac Purton take over the riding duties adds confidence.
The three-year-old son of So You Think was only two lengths behind the winner as a $67 chance, so it was a good effort.
Punters should expect shorter odds this time around.
Race 4. (23:15) Jasmine Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Awesome Treasure
Awesome Treasure went close at Sha Tin last time out and going one better is within the realm of possibility.
The five-year-old son of Charm Spirit hasn’t won this preparation, but he has finished second twice, so he’s not far off.
We expect each-way odds on race night.
Race 5. (23:45) Hyacinth Handicap (1650m)
#1 – Happy For All
Happy For All looked good when winning on debut at Sha Tin, and we’re prepared to forgive his subsequent efforts.
The three-year-old gelding by Impending didn’t fire last time out, but he went well when finishing a nose behind the winner two back.
Drawing wide hurts but Purton riding is a bonus.
Race 6. (00:15) The French May Trophy Handicap (1000m)
#6 – Seasons Wit
Seasons Wit is getting close to posting a win this preparation after posting two second placings.
The Jamie Richards-trained gelding was only a half-length behind the winner last start and Purton sticks with him.
We don’t expect bookmakers to offer generous odds.
Race 7. (00:45) Jasmine Handicap (1200m)
#7 – Happy Trio
Happy Trio scored narrowly two starts back before placing in a close finish last time out, so it’s handy form.
The four-year-old son of Dawn Approach owns a win and three placings from eight attempts at the track, which is a nice record.
Punters always get value odds with him.
Race 8. (01:15) Snapdragon Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Magniac
Magniac is gunning for consecutive wins after scoring by two lengths at Happy Valley last time out.
The Richards/Purton combination could strike again, and the former Australian, who won three in a row in Perth, looks better than average.
Consecutive victories looks well within his reach.
Race 9. (01:50) Iris Handicap (1650m)
#8 – Rattan Kingdom
Rattan Kingdom loves racing at Happy Valley with three wins and two placings, so he should be tough to beat.
The five-year-old son of Per Incanto has to contend with a tricky draw, but carrying 55.5kg helps his chances.
He shouldn’t be overlooked in an even race.
