Happy Valley horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (20:45) Swallow Handicap (1650m)
#1 – Superb Move
Superb Move has only three placings from 12 starts, but he could get the meeting off to a winning start.
The four-year-old son of Bated Breath ran fourth at his most recent start, and he doesn’t need to improve much to win.
Hugh Bowman rides off the inside draw.
Race 2. (21:15) Swallow Handicap (1650m)
#4 – Faithful Trinity
Faithful Trinity is no stranger to racing after posting seven wins throughout his long career.
The nine-year-old son of Wiener Walzer won by a nose at Happy Valley, and he’s a two-time winner fresh up.
We expect him to be right around the mark.
Race 3. (21:45) Parrot Handicap (1800m)
#3 – Right as Rain
Right as Rain didn’t end last season with much, but he’s better than that.
The six-year-old son of Rios owns a win and a placing at Happy Valley, with the win coming in March this year.
Something similar is good enough, and Zac Purton rides.
Race 4. (22:15) The HKEK Cup (1800m)
#5 – Turin Mascot
Turin Mascot hasn’t done much wrong throughout his career, including four wins from 11 starts.
The four-year-old scored by a nose last time out in June, and he could return this season with a victory.
Two of his four wins have come fresh, so he likes to hit the ground running.
Race 5. (22:45) Magpie Handicap (1650m)
#3 – Concerto
Looking to make it three wins on the bounce is Concerto, who won at Happy Valley by 3.5 lengths fresh up last campaign.
The seven-year-old won both starts last prep before spelling, so we expect him to hit the ground running this time in.
Look for each-way odds on race night.
Race 6. (23:15) Melbourne Cup Tour Handicap (1200m)
#10 – Super Eagle
Super Eagle has had the benefit of a start this season when finishing second at Happy Valley.
The five-year-old gelding by Mshawish owns three placings from eight starts at Happy Valley, so he should be breaking through soon.
Getting down in the weights helps.
Race 7. (23:45) Honeyeater Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Baby Crystal
Baby Crystal hasn’t done much wrong throughout his career, including a win and five second placings from nine starts.
The five-year-old son of Per Incanto didn’t win in four starts last prep, but he defeated Snowalot at Sha Tin in January at $1.60 odds.
Anything close sees him winning.
Race 8. (00:15) Cuckoo Handicap (1200m)
#5 – Wonder Kit
Wonder Kit ended last campaign with a win at Happy Valley by 2.5 lengths, which is a good form guide.
The five-year-old son of Sooboog capped off consistent form with the win, and he’s a past winner fresh up.
We expect him to be fighting out the finish on Wednesday.
Race 9. (00:50) Cuckoo Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Sixth Generation
Sixth Generation rattled off three consecutive wins last time in work, so that’s a good form guide.
The five-year-old son of Per Incanto is a three-time winner at Happy Valley, and he loves racing on this surface.
Barrier nine is tricky, but watch for him late.
