Horsham racing tips

Race 1. (13:00) Bet365 Maiden (1200m)

#17 – Renege @ $3.20

Renege hit the line nicely fresh up at Donald, and he should be better with that run under his belt.

The three-year-old son of Impending owns three placings from five starts overall, and getting the inside draw only helps his cause.

Look for a strong betting push close to start time.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (13:30) Winstar Construction Maiden (1800m)

#9 – Cousins Day @ $2.25

Looking to go one better than her debut second placing at Warrnambool is Cousins Day, who finished only a half-length behind the winner.

The Symon Wilde-trained mare has plenty of improvement to come, and having Dean Yendall in the saddle is a positive.

The odds are shortening, so include her in multis.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 3. (14:00) Promotional Products & Uniforms Maiden (2100m)

#5 – Night Cryer @ $8.00

With Champagne Jenni at $1.50, punters get value odds for runners like Night Cryer, who comes off a third placing at Warrnambool.

That place came behind Cousins Day, who ran second, so the form in Race 2 could be franked. That could shorten his odds for this contest.

It’s an open field, so include him for value.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (14:30) Traction AG BM58 (2100m)

#7 – The Right Page @ $6.00

The Right Page is gunning for consecutive wins, and at $6 odds, it would be a cardinal sin to leave her out of picks.

She won well at Wodonga last start by 1.8 lengths, and rising to 2100m only helps her chances of rising through the grades.

Money could come for her late, so take the value available.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 5. (15:00) Manhari BM58 (1100m)

#4 – The Mount @ $4.40

The Mount showed good speed last preparation when winning at Stawell by 2.3 lengths to break maiden grades.

He returns following a five-month spell, and he should return as a stronger type this time around. He was primed with a trial at Warrnambool, which also helps his chances.

The odds have drifted, but he’s worth including.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (15:30) Axis Employment BM58 (1400m)

#7 – World Action @ $4.00

World Action won well at Horsham two starts back before finishing seventh last start, and a bounce back is on the cards.

The three-year-old mare by Caravaggio won her only start at Horsham, so getting back to this track could land her a second win this prep.

Take the $4 odds before they firm close to start time.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 7. (16:00) CHS Group BM58 (1400m)

#3 – Bancoora @ $3.90

Consistency hasn’t been with Bancoora to start his career, but he showed good pace when winning at Kyneton last preparation.

The four-year-old son of Bel Esprit wasn’t too far away from the prize at Warrnambool last start, and the improved track conditions help.

Barrier four is ideal, and he’s worth including in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (16:30) Millers Civil Contractors BM58 (1800m)

#6 – Weather Delay @ $3.90

Weather Delay has run well this preparation, including a win at Ballarat two back before finishing close last time out.

The three-year-old son of Frosted likes to show good early speed and lead, and that is a good strategy when racing at Horsham.

He should find the front and kick strongly.

Stake: 1.5 Units
