Race 2. (13:50) Kam-Cool Refrigeration BM64 (2300m)
#7 – Revelaide @ $2.80
Revelaide didn’t look likely to win last start, but he flashed late and got the job done at Newcastle.
The three-year-old gelding by Rebel Raider should kick on with it and rise through the grades, so we’re loving the odds.
We would have been happy to back him at a shorter price.
Race 4. (15:05) Bella Group Services Maiden (1200m)
#7 – The New Sinatra @ $3.50
The New Sinatra ran third on debut ran a solid race for third on debut at Gosford, which is a tidy form guide.
He was a $2.50 favourite on that occasion, so expectations were high, and that’s the case again on Friday afternoon.
It’s not an easy field, but he’s the best of them.
Race 6. (16:20) Charlestown Square BM64 (1200m)
#6 – Hellcibell @ $4.20
Hellcibell resumes following a spell, and she couldn’t have looked any more impressive last campaign.
The four-year-old mare by Hellbent won at Scone and Beaumont, with the most recent effort by 3.5 lengths.
There is more depth to this field, but punters should be confident.
Race 7. (16:55) Horsepower Newcastle Stakes (1400m)
#10 – Jimmysstar @ $1.90
Jimmysstar was a tragedy beaten last time out, but that form is stellar for the Newcastle Stakes.
The former New Zealand runner owns five wins and two second placings from seven starts, and he’s heading to the top.
Getting in with 54kg is why connections will likely run here as opposed to Saturday at Flemington.

Race 2. (18:15) Inglis Digital BM64 (1200m)
#4 – Isthmus @ $2.80
Isthmus resumed from a spell with a win at Werribee, and she looks good enough to win again.
The three-year-old filly by I Am Invincible won by four lengths as a $1.80 chance, so getting $2.80 is too good to pass up.
Take the odds before they shorten on race night.
Race 4. (19:15) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge BM84 (955m)
#2 – Philosopher @ $2.50
Philosopher is a slick sprinter with four wins already this preparation, and that form is tough to overlook.
The son of Zoustar was too quick for a stellar field at The Valley last time out, and he could bring down the 55 Second Challenge in fine style.
Getting 1.5kg off his back adds to our confidence levels.
Race 5. (19:45) Cool Ridge BM84 (2500m)
#3 – Yarrawonga @ $2.80
Yarrawonga is already a three-time winner this preparation, so there’s no reason to jump off his back.
The son of Australia owns four wins and four placings overall, and it’s always worth backing a Waterhouse/Bott-trained stayer.
They go forward and they’re tough to run down.
Race 8. (21:15) The Orbit Logistics BM78 (1200m)
#4 – Midtown Boss @ $2.30
Midtown Boss knows how to get the job done with three wins and five placings from nine starts.
The four-year-old son of Street Boss has yet to race at The Valley, but given his quick turn-of-foot, he’s suited here.
Having Mark Zahra in the saddle helps his cause.
