Moonee Valley horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (18:15) Chef’s Hat BM70 (1000m)
#2 – Celui @ $3.20
Celui already owns two wins from four starts, including fresh up at Bendigo last time out.
The Brent Stanley-trained three-year-old won by 3.8 lengths, so it was a comfortable victory as a $1.20 favourite.
Punters get better odds this time around, so put him on top.
Race 2. (18:45) Western General Bodyworks Vobis (1500m)
#3 – Umgawa @ $4
Umgawa has been around the mark throughout his career, including four placings from his last five starts.
The five-year-old son of Shamus Award didn’t fire at his only start at The Valley, but he comes off a third placing at Flemington.
That form is tough to overlook.
Race 3. (19:15) Sweeney Estate Agents Country Cup Final (1200m)
#3 – Port Albert @ $3.30
Port Albert is never too far away from the prize, including a second placing at Hamilton last start.
The four-year-old son of Sooboog has the class edge to put this field away, and the odds are justified.
We see his odds firming to around $2.70 on race night.
Race 4. (19:45) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge (955m)
#6 – Frilled @ $1.65
Frilled is unbeaten after four starts and she has given punters no reason to jump off her back.
The four-year-old daughter of Star Witness won by a half-length against a tidy field last start, and having winning experience at The Valley helps.
We’re happy with the short odds off the inside draw.
Race 5. (20:15) Seppelt Wines Chautauqua Stakes (1200m)
#3 – She Dances @ $1.95
She Dances was too good for them at Caulfield last time out, so the odds are spot on.
The four-year-old mare owns six wins from 12 starts, and she won her only start on the track.
Everything points towards her winning again, so include her in selections.
Race 6. (20:45) Schweppes JRA Cup (2040m)
#5 – Ain’tnodeeldun @ $3.80
It looks like the penny might have dropped for Ain’tnodeeldun, who has won his last two starts.
The six-year-old son of Dundeel is unbeaten in two starts at The Valley, and we love the way he picked them up at Sandown.
Punters get each-way odds, and he tops our selections.
Race 7. (21:15) Ladbrokes Moonee Valley Gold Cup (2500m)
#3 – Vow and Declare @ $5
That was a huge run from Vow and Declare last time out, and that’s the best form guide for this race.
The Melbourne Cup winner flashed home for second behind Alligator Blood, and he’s progressing to the Melbourne Cup nicely.
He has yet to see The Valley, but we’re happy to take the risk.
Race 8. (21:45) MSC Signs BM78 (1600m)
#7 – Farhh Flung @ $3.80
We can’t explain what happened to Farhh Flung last time out, but his win two back was much better.
The five-year-old might be waiting to get back to Moonee Valley, so we’re happy to include him based on his win two back.
He has enough ability to bounce back in fine style.
