First race in 8h 6m There are many big races on the card in New Zealand this Saturday, including the Group 1 NZ 1000 Guineas. It’s an important race on the calendar, and we have our best tips from Riccarton and Te Rapa, which are great betting venues.
Riccarton Tips
Race 1. (9:38) Road Metals Premier BM65 (1600m)
#3 - The Big Picture @ $10.00

The Big Price has been a tough runner to follow this season, but we’re giving him another chance at the odds.
The eight-year-old gelding owns two wins on a soft track, and although we expect the track to improve, he’s solid enough in dry conditions.
Given the odds, he’s worth backing.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (10:08) One Good Horse at Avonhead Tavern BM78 (2000m)
#4 - Perlino @ $2.45

It’s tough to keep Perlino out of our picks, despite finishing down the track in a much harder race at Ellerslie.
The four-year-old mare by Super Seth is bred to be better than average, and Te Akau has a good record at this meeting.
Barrier four with Craig Williams riding only adds to her appeal.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 3. (10:38) Garrard's Horse and Hound Premier Maiden (1200m)
#16 - Imelda Melody @ $5.50

There isn’t much covering this field, and Imelda Melody should give punters a good sight.
The three-year-old daughter of War Decree as had three starts at Riccarton for a placing, and she can get back to that form.
Joe Doyle rides, and we expect her to settle handy and kick strongly.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (11:11) Scenic Hotel Group BM75 (1100m)
#2 - Toronto @ $3.60

Torono ended last preparation with a win at Riccarton, and he could hit the ground running this preparation.
The six-year-old gelding by Vancouver owns three wins and four placings from nine starts overall, so he is good enough to handle this field.
2kg comes off his back, and that’s enough to see him win.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Te Rapa Tips
Race 1. (10:53) Sword of State 2YO (1100m)
#3 - Pick Up Artist @ $2.20

Looking to make a winning debut is Pick Up Artist, who looked good when placing in a recent trial.
The Te Akau-trained two-year-old by Trapeze Artist doesn’t have much to face here, and the small field only helps his chances.
Barrier three is ideal, and the experience of Matthew Cameron riding helps.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 2. (11:26) Xmas at the Races Book Now BM65 (2200m)
#5 - Pure Bars @ $7.50

Punters get each-way odds for Pure Bars, who comes off a tidy third placing, and he should be ready to fire here.
The seven-year-old son of Bullbars owns three placings from four starts at Te Rapa, so having that course record is ideal.
He’s sneaking under the radar, so consider at the odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 3. (11:59) Norris Ward Maiden (1600m)
#1 - Bosetta @ $4.20

There isn’t much covering this field, and we’re taking the each-way odds for Bosetta, who has race experience when running third on debut.
The three-year-old son of Tarzino ran third at Taupo, which is always a good form guide, and that experience should take him close.
We’re liking the each-way odds for a solid type.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (12:32) Skycity Hamilton Tickets Selling Fast BM65 (1200m)
#5 - Accentuate @ $12.00

Punters get double-figure odds for Accentuate, who owns a win and three placings from eight starts, with one placing coming at Te Rapa.
The four-year-old mare by Turn Me Loose didn’t fire at Ellerslie last start, but that was a tough field, and this is much easier.
Take the odds before punters jump on.
Stake: 1 Unit
