Randwick horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:30) Join ATC Membership Handicap (1000m)
#5 – Russian Roulette
Russian Roulette needs luck from the wide draw, but the Waterhouse/Bott-trained colt looks to have pace.
He is unbeaten in two trials at Warwick Farm, and although they came on rain affected tracks, he has a good action.
Look for any betting support throughout the week.
Race 2. (13:05) Midway BM72 (1600m)
#4 – Monfelicity
Monfelicity has done well to win and place from three starts this preparation.
The David Payne-trained mare won at Randwick before placing behind Lyrical Gangster. That form has been franked somewhat, so it’s a solid form guide.
From the wide draw, punters should now get value odds.
Race 3. (13:40) Tab Highway C3 (1200m)
#2 – Acappella Sun
Value could be with Acappella Sun, who hasn’t shown her best this preparation.
She is more than capable of beating a field of this nature, and we’re happy to stick with her for the time being.
Getting weight off her back adds weight to her chances.
Race 4. (14:15) Race a Kia Ora Bred Graduate BM88 (1600m)
#4 – Redstone Well
Redstone Well is an imported runner for Annabel Neasham, who finished fifth at Randwick in his Australian debut.
The five-year-old hit the line nicely behind Excelladus, which should be a good form guide for this race.
He has more upside than most in this field, and having Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle adds to his appeal.
Race 5. (14:50) Petaluma BM72 (1600m)
#8 – Canadian Ruler
Canadian Ruler has improved with every run this campaign, including a second placing at Wyong last time out.
The Bjorn Baker-trained gelding gets in light with only 55kg, and it could be enough to see him take it out.
His only run at Randwick resulted in a placing, so he has upside.
Race 6. (15:25) The Agency Real Estate BM88 (2000m)
#6 – Louisville
Louisville capped off consistent form with a win at Rosehill, and we’re happy to follow him for another run.
The five-year-old son of Redwood has yet to win from four attempts at Randwick, but he has been close with three second placings.
Getting in with 55.5kg makes him the one to beat.
Race 7. (16:00) Tab Carrington Stakes (1400m)
#8 – Zou Tiger
It’s only a matter of time before Zou Tiger gets back to winning form following a second placing at Rosehill.
The four-year-old son of Zoustar is only a one-race winner, but he has more than $420,000 in the bank.
That’s an impressive statistic, and he’s good enough to handle this field.
Race 8. (16:40) Precise Air BM78 (1200m)
#11 – Boston Rocks
Boston Rocks wasn’t far away from a similar field last start and we’re giving him another chance.
The Nathan Doyle-trained gelding looked good winning three of his last five starts, so he warrants attention at the weights.
Getting the inside draw with the best front-running jockey riding is ideal.
Race 9. (17:20) Toyota Forklifts BM78 (1400m)
#2 – High Blue Sea
High Blue Sea has looked good throughout his career, including three wins and a placing from five starts.
The four-year-old gelding by Merchant Navy comes off a win at Rosehill, which was his third consecutive victory.
It’s not an easy field but he’s the one to beat.
Race 10. (17:55) Expect It All This Autumn ATC BM78 (1200m)
#1 – Junqueira
Junqueira isn’t having the most consistent season, but her win at Gold Coast two back was tidy.
The John O’Shea-trained mare won by 1.8 lengths before finishing fourth behind Lady Laguna in a tough race two weeks ago.
61kg is a big weight, but class is on her side.
