Randwick-Kensington racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:45) The Passchendale Maiden (1100m)
#2 – Call Me Gorgeous @ $2.05
Call Me Gorgeous ran second on debut at this track before spelling, which is a good form guide.
The three-year-old gelding by Deep Field comes off a trial win at Warwick Farm, and the money has come thick and fast.
After opening at $2.60, he has been heavily backed, which is a good sign.
Race 2. (13:20) The Home Front BM68 (1400m)
#10 – Redbreast @ $2.25
Redbreast was far too good for them at Hawkesbury when winning by two lengths last time out.
The three-year-old filly by American Pharoah won at odds of $1.60 and getting $2.25 is a great price against this field.
Barrier three is ideal and having Tim Clark in the saddle helps.
Race 3. (13:55) Armistice BM78 (2400m)
#5 – Awesome Wonder @ $4.00
Awesome Wonder has been right around the mark in two runs this preparation, including a second placing at Gosford last start.
The five-year-old mare by Galileo was only a length behind the winner, and the early betting support is ideal.
Take the each-way odds against an even field.
Race 4. (14:30) Battle of Amiens BM72 (1400m)
#2 – Bunker Hut @ $5.50
Bunker Hut needed two runs back from a spell, and he was hitting the line nicely at Newcastle.
The four-year-old gelding by Savabeel has yet to race at Randwick-Kensington, but the track should suit his running style.
Getting each-way odds at $5.50 is too good to pass up.
Race 5. (15:05) Kokoda Trail BM72 (1550m)
#4 – Cabaca @ $6.00
Cabaca is struggling to win this campaign, but we’re giving her another chance at the price.
The four-year-old mare by Fastnet Rock ran second two back in Tasmania before finishing seventh at Caulfield last time out.
Having James McDonald in the saddle could make the difference.
Race 6. (15:40) The Australian Imperial Force BM72 (1000m)
#2 – Jedibeel @ $4.20
Jedibeel owns three wins and four placings from nine starts, and he comes off a trial win at Hawkesbury.
The four-year-old son of Savabeel gets all favours fresh up from the inside draw, and he should love using the rail.
We expect money to come for him on race day.
Race 7. (16:15) Anzac Day Cup BM78 (1800m)
#1 – City of Lights @ $3.20
City of Lights owns four wins from seven starts, including two wins at Randwick-Kensington.
The four-year-old mare by Deep Impact won at Canterbury fresh up before winning last time out, which is excellent form.
The barrier draw is tough, but she has time to find cover and hit the line strongly.
Race 8. (16:50) Beersheba BM64 (1550m)
#4 – Wembanyama @ $2.90
Looking to score a slam dunk is Wembanyama, who didn’t have all favours in the run last time out.
The three-year-old son of Dundeel won well at Kembla Grange two back, and anything close to that effort is good enough.
McDonald rides, adding to his good book of rides.
