Randwick-Kensington racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:15) Golden Mile @ Darley Handicap (1400m)
#2 – Mr Artemisia @ $3.50
Mr Artemisia ran second on debut at Canterbury, and although three lengths behind the winner, it was a solid effort.
The two-year-old colt by The Autumn Sun was a $12.00 chance on that occasion, but it’s not surprising to see him at shorter odds here.
The Waller/McDonald combination doesn’t miss all that often.
Race 2. (12:50) Drinkwise Maiden (1400m)
#5 – Cheergal @ $6.50
Cheergal was spelled following a second placing at Randwick, which is a good form guide for this level of racing.
The Annabel Neasham-trained filly wasn’t far behind Sly Boots, and the three-year-old comes off a trial win at Randwick.
We thought her odds would be shorter, so take the value.
Race 3. (13:25) James Squire BM68 (1300m)
#3 – Need Some Luck @ $3.20
Class is with Need Some Luck, who won at Warwick Farm against a good field last time out.
The three-year-old colt by Rubick got the better of Keenan, and that form has been franked nicely.
The wet track could pose some problems, but he’s far too good to leave out of calculations at the current odds.
Race 4. (14:00) Petaluma BM72 (1250m)
#3 – Rebel Shadow @ $5.00
Rebel Shadow runs his best races fresh up and over this distance, so we’re happy with the each-way odds.
The five-year-old son of Rebel Dane has yet to win at Randwick-Kensington, but he owns two placings at the track.
Having McDonald in the saddle adds to his appeal.
Race 5. (14:35) Ole Kirk First Yearlings BM72 (1250m)
#9 – Silent Raindrops @ $5.50
Silent Raindrops owns two wins and nine placings from 16 starts, and she finished second at her only start on the track.
The four-year-old daughter of Sebring handled the heavy track when second last start, which is an excellent form guide.
Getting each-way odds makes her worth considering.
Race 6. (15:10) Hitotsu @ Arrowfield BM64 (1800m)
#4 – Cable Express @ $6.50
Cable Express is a three-year-old gelding who has been right around the mark throughout his career.
The son of Cable Bay owns two wins and two placings from four starts, and his win two back was a great effort.
It’s a tough and even betting field, so we’re including him at the odds.
Race 7. (15:45) Tab BM64 (1800m)
#1 – Yet He Moves @ $3.40
Yet He Moves has more class than most in this race, and he’s better than what he has shown in two starts this preparation.
The four-year-old gelding by Adelaide owns two wins and six placings from 13 starts, and he just needs the right run in transit.
Getting some weight off his back should help his cause.
Race 8. (16:20) Hyland Race Colours BM78 (1400m)
#13 – Franz Josef @ $4.80
Franz Josef went unbeaten in two runs last preparation at Randwick and Warwick Farm.
The three-year-old gelding by Snitzel won by 2.5 lengths at Warwick Farm last time out, and he comes off a trial win at Rosehill.
Getting an inside draw is ideal, and the drifting each-way odds are generous.
