Rosehill horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:20) Kia Ora Prague Handicap (1100m)
#2 – Storm Boy @ $1.90
Storm Boy is a $460,000 purchase who comes off consecutive trial wins at Rosehill and Warwick Farm.
The two-year-old colt by Justify won his most recent trial by 5.8 lengths, so there is plenty of speed in his legs.
Getting the inside draw could be enough to see him win.
Race 2. (12:55) Midway BM72 (2000m)
#9 – Brynner @ $9.50
Brynner comes off a win at Canterbury, which should give him plenty of confidence.
The five-year-old son of Contributer is only a three-time winner from 26 starts overall, but he should be ready to fire again.
Getting in with 55kg on his back takes him close.
Race 3. (13:30) Vale Ray Markey BM78 (1800m)
#7 – Tavi Time @ $2.45
Tavi Time keeps winning and we’re happy to keep backing him until he proves otherwise.
The Kris Lees-trained four-year-old owns four wins from seven starts, including a win at Newcastle by 2.8 lengths last time out.
We don’t think he’ll find this any harder.
Race 4. (14:05) Tab Highway C2 Handicap (1100m)
#2 – Gallant Star @ $5
Value odds are with Gallant Star, who owns two wins and three placings from five starts.
The four-year-old son of Zoustar has yet to miss a win or placing at the distance, and we liked his effort for third at Randwick two back.
Given the $5 odds, he’s worth including in selections.
Race 5. (14:40) Doyle’s Breeding and Racing BM78 (1400m)
#6 – Afterlight @ $4
Afterlight comes off an impressive win at Warwick Farm by 1.8 lengths, so she’s the one to beat.
The four-year-old daughter of I Am Invincible is a three-time winner overall and carrying 55.5kg is ideal.
Her odds have drifted a touch, but she’s worth backing at the current price.
Race 6. (15:20) Tab Country Classic (2000m)
#4 – Eaglemont @ $4.20
Eaglemont wasn’t far away when sixth behind Spangler last time out, which was a tidy performance.
The seven-year-old son of Camelot owns five wins from 25 starts, so he’s never too far away from the prize.
After opening at $3.30, punters now get value odds.
Race 7. (16:00) James Squire Festival Stakes (1500m)
#2 – Rustic Steel @ $4.80
Rustic Steel is better for recent racing, and he wasn’t far away when running fifth at Newcastle behind Coal Crusher.
The six-year-old son of Deep Field owns eight wins from 20 starts overall, so he’s the class runner of this field.
We’re taking the each-way odds available.
Race 8. (16:40) Greenlife Starlight Stakes (1100m)
#3 – Quick Tempo @ $4.60
Quick Tempo should have won last time out when powering to the line to finish second behind Insurrection.
The five-year-old gelding by Rubick owns seven wins from 22 starts, and he’s going under the radar here.
Carrying 54kg should show off his turn-of-foot.
Race 9. (17:20) Christmas Cup (2400m)
#9 – Little Mix @ $5.50
Little Mix comes off wins at Eagle Farm and Flemington, so the form checks out for racing at Rosehill.
The Annabel Neasham-trained mare got the better of a good field last time out, and with five wins and eight placings from 15 starts, she doesn’t know how to run a bad race.
Carrying 53kg should take her close.
Race 10. (17:55) Buy an Arrowfield Graduate BM78 (1100m)
#8 – Legio Ten @ $5.50
Legio Ten showed speed last preparation when winning consecutive races, which is good enough form for this race.
The Cummings-trained gelding owns two wins over the distance, and his fresh up form reads well.
He only needs a touch of luck from the wide barrier to win.
