Sandown racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (13:00) Jockey Watch Maiden (1400m)
#4 – Makdane @ $2.70
Makdane is getting close to a win after two placings, including a second placing at Cranbourne last time out.
The three-year-old son of Impending opened at $2.40 before drifting, but we’re not worried by the lack of betting confidence.
Drawing barrier three should give him every chance.
Race 2. (13:35) Ive Maiden (1200m)
#1 – Coronation Drive @ $2.70
Coronation Drive has been heavily backed after opening at $3.50, which is a good sign.
The three-year-old gelding by Foxwedge comes off jumpout wins at Bendigo and Ballarat, and that’s excellent form for his debut.
More money could come for him throughout the week.
Race 3. (14:10) Bet with Mates Handicap (1200m)
#5 – Khadime @ $2.35
We’re happy to go with another favourite in Khadime, who is also a two-trial jumpout winner.
The two-year-old filly by Star Turn was a $200,000 purchase, and she gets the inside draw to work with.
There is plenty of money coming for her, and she could continue to firm throughout the week.
Race 4. (14:45) Tile Importer BM70 (2100m)
#5 – Pink Chandon @ $3.00
Pink Chandon hasn’t fired at her last two starts, but they came at Flemington in tough fields.
The three-year-old filly by Pierro looked much better winning at Pakenham three back by three lengths, which was a great effort.
The small field should be right up her alley.
Race 5. (15:20) Fast Form BM64 (2100m)
#5 – Vermillion Dragon @ $2.35
Vermillion Dragon got the job done on debut at Kembla Grange, and it was an impressive victory.
The three-year-old gelding by Savabeel scored by 3.3 lengths in fine style, and coming to Victoria won’t do his chances any harm.
He’s another runner that has been well-backed to win.
Race 6. (15:55) Lockettled BM64 (1200m)
#6 – Elderberry @ $3.20
Value is with Elderberry, who doesn’t know how to run a bad race.
The three-year-old filly by Bolt D’oro comes off a win at Pakenham, and she could keep her winning run going.
Her odds have drifted, but that’s better odds for punters.
Race 7. (16:30) Senet Gambling Law Experts BM64 (1500m)
#5 – Grinzinger Ace @ $5.00
Grinzinger Ace showed too much pace for them at Horsham, scoring by two lengths.
The Danny O’Brien-trained three-year-old is already a two-time winner this preparation, so the form checks out.
We’re happy with the each-way odds available.
Race 8. (17:05) Set a Deposit Limit MB64 (1600m)
#2 – Rock the Bar @ $3.90
Rock the Bar owns two wins from four starts, including a win two back at Pakenham.
The three-year-old son of Toronado wasn’t too far away when fourth at Sandown last start, and punters get a better price this time around.
Having Jamie Kah in the saddle adds to his appeal.
