Sandown horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (15:40) Welcome to Sportsbet Sandown Maiden (1400m)
#6 – Shiny New Deel @ $3.30
Shiny New Deel did well to run third on debut at Cranbourne, which is an excellent form guide.
The three-year-old son of Dundeel gets every chance from the inside draw, and he has plenty of upside.
We expect money to come for him on race day, so take the odds before they firm.
Race 2. (16:15) Sportsbet Make it Look Easy BM64 (1300m)
#1 – Surprise Valley @ $3
Surprise Valley is unbeaten after two starts, including wins at Muswellbrook and Yarra Glen.
The three-year-old filly by Deep Field has shown good barrier speed throughout her career, which is ideal for this race.
Getting the inside draw could be the winning of the race.
Race 3. (16:50) Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives BM64 (1000m)
#2 – Halvar @ $5.50
Halvar comes off a win at Warrnambool, and we fancy his chances to rise through the grades.
This is a tough race with many nice types, but Halvar is an excellent each-way chance at $5.50.
Having John Allen in the saddle should help the youngster, as he gets the best out of his mounts, so put him on top.
Race 4. (17:25) Ive Handicap BM70 (3000m)
#9 – Apache Thunder @ $6.50
Apache Thunder has been a model of consistency throughout his career, including a win and three placings.
The five-year-old son of Declaration of War is bred to see out the staying distance and he wasn’t far away at The Valley last start.
Carrying 54kg adds weight to his appeal.
Race 5. (18:00) Tile Importer Handicap BM64 (1400m)
#3 – Another Wil @ $1.95
Another Wil showed good ability during his first preparation, including a win at Moe two back.
He followed it up with a third placing at The Valley behind He’ll Rip, which is a handy form guide at this level.
His recent jumpout win is a good sign of things to come, so take the short odds and include him in multis.
Race 6. (18:30) Thoroughbred Club Australia BM64 (1800m)
#4 – Nishino Crescent @ $5
Nishino Crescent is only a one-time winner from 12 starts, but with seven placings, he’s always around the mark.
The Henry Dwyer-trained gelding won at Ballarat two back before placing at Seymour last time out.
Those are good form races, and we’re happy with the odds available.
Race 7. (19:00) Sportsbet Bet with Mates BM70 (1300m)
#9 – Punch Lane @ $2.80
Punch Lane was far too good for them when scoring by 4.5 lengths at Geelong last start.
The four-year-old son of So You Think owns three wins from five starts, including two wins over the distance.
It’s not an easy field with Lang Park in the mix, but Punch Lane has upside.
