Sandown horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (15:05) Sportsbet Jockey Watch BM70 (1000m)
#1 – Arctic Fairy @ $3.80
There is good value with Arctic Fairy, who has been right around the mark in all four runs this preparation.
The four-year-old mare by Zoustar owns two wins and three placings from nine starts, so the class is there, and we thought her odds would be shorter.
Getting the inside draw could make all the difference on race day.
Race 2. (15:40) Lockettled Maiden Plate (1300m)
#14 – Quickster @ $1.60
Punters must take short odds for Quickster, but the three-year-old filly should have this race at her mercy.
The daughter of Shamus Award ran second at Sandown last start as a $1.80 favourite, but that was a more competitive field.
It’s about time she exited maiden grades.
Race 3. (16:15) Sportsbet Fast Form Maiden (1500m)
#2 – Ceremonious @ $4.00
Looking to cap off four consecutive placings is Ceremonius, who is in good hands with Chris Waller.
The three-year-old son of Pierro comes off consecutive placings at The Valley, which is always tidy form for midweek racing.
Barrier four allows him to find a good spot and he’ll sprint late.
Race 4. (16:50) Thoroughbred Club Australia BM64 (1500m)
#6 – Fire of Etna @ $3.20
Fire of Etna has been solid this season, winning fresh up and following it up with two placings.
The four-year-old mare by Rebel Raider is a nice midweek middle-distance runner in the making, and she deserves to be favourite.
We’re happy to take her at the drifting odds after opening at $2.90.
Race 5. (17:25) Set a Deposit Limit BM64 (1300m)
#4 – Rhapsody Chic @ $3.70
Experience helps and Rhapsody Chic is better for finishing second last time out.
The Freedman-trained son of Sacred Falls owns a win and two placings from three starts, and we fancy him more than Sunshineinmypocket because of his experience.
Having Damian Lane in the saddle doesn’t hurt either.
Race 6. (18:00) Senet Gambling Law Experts BM64 (2400m)
#9 – Auspirit @ $9.00
Value is with Auspirit, who has been all around the mark this campaign, including a win.
The daughter of Australia hasn’t been too far away in three subsequent runs, and this isn’t the strongest midweek field.
Seeing out 2400m won’t be an issue given her breeding, so take the value odds.
Race 7. (18:30) Evergreen Turf BM70 (1000m)
#7 – Pantelone @ $2.80
Making his second campaign is Pantelone, who showed excellent ability during his first prep.
The James Cummings-trained son of Street Boss scored two wins from his last five starts, and he could hit the ground running this time in.
Getting the inside draw adds to his appeal.
Race 8. (19:00) Make It Look Easy BM64 (1800m)
#13 – Freight Train @ $2.25
On the drift after opening at $2.10 is Freight Train, who scored an impressive win on debut.
The three-year-old son of Shamus Award looks to have a bright future, and punters shouldn’t be put off by the betting drift.
We’re happy to put him on top and see him remain unbeaten.
