Sandown horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (13:15) Fierce Impact BM70 (1400m)
#2 – Wishlor Lass @ $2.35
Wishlor Lass owns three wins from five starts, and she looks like a smart type in the making.
The Symon Wilde-trained mare ran fourth at Sandown fresh up, and she was only 1.1 lengths behind the winner.
We expect her to be fighting out the finish.
Race 2. (13:50) Evergreen Turf Handicap (1000m)
#2 – Chilled @ $8
Chilled runs at better odds than expected, and she wasn’t beaten far at Sandown last time out.
The three-year-old filly by Shalaa looked good when winning twice last preparation, and we priced her around $4.
She can jump and run, so include her in selections.
Race 3. (14:25) Tile Importer Handicap (1400m)
#4 – Verdad @ $4.20
Verdad was impressive when winning on debut at Bendigo, and we think it’s worth following him.
The three-year-old son of Justify won by 3.8 lengths as a $15 chance, and he ran a quick time in good conditions.
We expect money to come for him despite rising in class.
Race 4. (15:00) Ive Handicap (1400m)
#8 – Moesha @ $4.80
Moesha took care of an easy field at Hamilton last start, so she’s worth backing again.
The three-year-old daughter by I Am Invincible scored by two lengths in an effortless display, which is a good form guide.
Look for a betting push on race day.
Race 5. (15:40) Thoroughbred Club Australia BM78 (1800m)
#7 – Worsfold @ $11
Worsfold is a value runner after two solid starts this preparation, including a sixth at Sandown last time out.
The seven-year-old gelding was only 2.4 lengths behind the winner, so the run is better than it looked.
Barrier 16 is a reason why punters get $11, but he has time to find cover and work home well.
Race 6. (16:15) Ladbrokes Sandown Stakes (1500m)
#1 – Antino @ $1.65
Antino is the fastest horse in this race, and although beaten last time out, he has plenty of ability.
The five-year-old gelding by Redwood owns eight wins from 10 starts, including a stellar three-length win at Eagle Farm two back.
Punters must take short odds, but they’re worth taking.
Race 7. (16:50) Quayclean Handicap (1800m)
#5 – Forgot You @ $4.80
Forgot You is taking him time to get back to winning form, but he’s well worth sticking with.
The five-year-old son of Savabeel has yet to race at Sandown, but the longer straight should be right up his alley.
After opening at $6, his odds have firmed nicely.
Race 8. (17:25) Stow Storage Solutions BM84 (1400m)
#11 – Rheinberg @ $3.70
Rheinberg has been electric this preparation with three consecutive wins at Sale, Sandown, and Caulfield.
The five-year-old son of Swiss Ace owns two wins from three starts at Sandown, which is tough to ignore.
We’re happy with $3.70 before it drops.
