Sandown horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (13:00) Ladbroke It Maiden (1300m)
#1 – Furious @ $4.50
Furious showed good speed when running second on debut at Newcastle before spelling.
The Hawkes-trained four-year-old was a close margin behind the winner in April, and having Damien Oliver in the saddle is a good guide.
Look for a betting push on race day.
Race 2. (13:35) Ladbrokes Bet Ticker Maiden (1500m)
#11 – Basilinna @ $9.50
Basilinna ran second behind Wolfy on debut last week, which should be an excellent form guide.
The three-year-old filly paid $21 on that occasion, but punters should expect much shorter odds this time around.
Having Damian Lane in the saddle boosts her chances of success.
Race 3. (14:10) Austin Waterproofing BM64 (1000m)
#1 – Hedged @ $2.15
Hedged has been facing tough fields lately, so he should enjoy dropping to midweek level.
The three-year-old son of Capitalist won at Seymour by 4.5 lengths to break maidens before running fourth behind Veight.
That’s top-class form, and he should be too good for this field.
Race 4. (14:45) Buckland Roofing BM64 (1600m)
#1 – Poison Chalice @ $2.25
Poison Chalice didn’t show much during his first preparation, but he turned that form around with consecutive wins.
The four-year-old son of Savabeel won at Geelong before winning at Sandown, which is the best form guide for this race.
Rising in weight makes it harder, but his exposed form measures up.
Race 5. (15:20) Quayclean BM64 (1300m)
#7 – Truffle Finder @ $4.20
Truffle Finder found the goods when winning at Pakenham last time out, and he could hit the ground running this prep.
The four-year-old son of Lonhro is bred to be handy, and he was given a soft trial at Cranbourne to prepare for this race.
Look for each-way odds on race day.
Race 6. (15:55) Fierce Impact BM70 (1300m)
#10 – Explosive Rosie @ $5
Explosive Rosie has yet to run worse than third from seven starts, including two wins.
The four-year-old daughter of Smart Missile won at Pakenham three back before adding two placings to her record.
This is a deeper field, but getting 3kg off her back adds weight to her chances.
Race 7. (16:30) Two Bays Farm BM64 (1000m)
#10 – Unlimited Magic @ $4.80
Unlimited Magic won at Kyneton before struggling at The Valley, but she bounced back in fine style.
The four-year-old daughter of Impending won by 1.5 lengths against a tidy field, and we expect that form to hold up well.
Barrier four should allow her to find her feet early and hit the line nicely.
Race 8. (17:05) Big Event Picnic Tables BM70 (1800m)
#1 – Taramansour @ $11
Taramansour runs at value odds following a win at Sandown, and we’re happy to stick with him.
The seven-year-old is a five-time winner overall, and getting 3kg off his back helps with the initial 64kg.
Class should take him close, and getting value odds is worth taking.
