Sapphire Coast racing tips

Race 1. (12:26) Cooma Cricket Club Maiden (1010m)

#1 – Sesto

Sesto doesn’t meet much of a field on Sunday at Sapphire Coast, and he has improvement following a fifth on debut.

The three-year-old gelding by Tassort ran at $8.50 odds, and punters won’t get those odds for this race.

He’s good enough to take advantage of this field and win.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (13:06) Mark Williams & Robin Gauld Memorial BM58 (1010m)

The Unique Star won on debut at Albury by 1.3 lengths as a $1.40 chance, and he finished a length behind the winner last time out.

That form should stack up nicely at Sapphire Coast, and he has been primed with a trial win at Goulburn, which bodes well.

Barrier three is ideal, so expect shortening odds.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 3. (13:46) Diggers Bobcat Hire Maiden (1613m)

Looking to improve on recent racing is Evokes, who ran fifth at Goulburn before finishing fourth last time out.

It might not seem like exceptional form, but there are no superstars in this race, and he could take advantage.

Getting 2kg off his back is ideal, so include him as an each-way chance.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 4. (14:26) Jack Atkinson Surveying Monaro Cup (1613m)

Craft has been right around the mark this preparation, including a win two back following by a placing at Hawkesbury.

That came behind some nice types in heavy conditions, including Canadian Ruler, and that form stacks up nicely against this field.

Barrier two is ideal, and it’s another good ride for Billy Owen.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 5. (15:06) Cooma Race Club BM58 (1413m)

#4 – Fire and Gemstone

Boasting six placings from nine starts at Sapphire Coast is Fire and Gemstone, who looks ready to win another race.

The five-year-old son of Rubick has good stats over the distance with seven starts for a win and two placings, which bodes well.

Getting 1.5kg off his back should take him close.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (15:45) Delegate Crew Maiden (1212m)

#9 – Kitty Okay

The three-year-old filly hasn’t done much wrong throughout her career, including a debut second placing.

She ran second at Sapphire Coast before spelling and returning to finish fourth at Canterbury against a much harder field.

That form is tops for this race, so put her on top.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 7. (16:30) Nimmitabel Country Club BM58 (1212m)

#1 – Snappy Jim

We liked the run of Snappy Jim fresh up when running second at Sapphire Coast, and his form at this track bodes well.

The six-year-old son of Squamosa is a five-time winner overall, and getting 2kg off should bring him in to contention.

He gets the inside draw, and he could use it to full advantage.

Stake: 1 Unit
