Mornington
—
Race 1. (13:30) Quayclean Maiden (1000m)
#4 – Blue Chip Girl @ $2
Blue Chip Girl went close to winning last preparation when placing in three of her four starts.
The four-year-old daughter of American Pharoah ran third at Bendigo last time out before spelling, and she could return in fine order.
We’re not surprised by the short odds.
Race 3. (14:30) Become a Mornington Member Maiden (1200m)
#8 – Samurai @ $2.40
Samurai ran second on debut at Ruakaka in New Zealand behind a smart age-group runner.
The Freedman-trained son of Saxon Warrior was only a nose behind the winner, and the form has checked out greatly since.
He should be winning this race, so take the odds.
Race 4. (15:00) Big Event Picnic Tables Maiden (1000m)
#8 – Telescope @ $3.40
Money has come for Telescope, who has looked good when winning three jumpouts at Mornington.
The three-year-old filly by Zoustar comes from a good stable for this level of racing, and she could make a winning debut.
After opening at $5, her odds firmed considerably.
Race 6. (16:00) Austin Waterproofing BM64 (2050m)
#2 – Norwegian Joy @ $4.20
Norwegian Joy won on debut at Bendigo before placing at Pakenham, and he got slightly too far back on that occasion.
The four-year-old son of Tarzino should enjoy running on a good surface, and we thought his odds would be around $2.40.
Take the value available with bookmakers.

Tuncurry

Race 2. (12:50) Canadian Club Maiden (1000m)
#3 – Bob’s Last One @ $2.45
Bob’s Last One ran second at Taree on debut and he’s good enough to go one better.
The three-year-old son of Super One was only a nose behind the winner as a $2.80 chance, so the money is on again.
Getting the inside draw could be all he needs.
Race 4. (14:05) Sporties Tuncurry Maiden (1200m)
#11 – Chilli Filly @ $2.35
Chilli Filly comes from the Kris Lees stable and they often produce quality types on debut.
The three-year-old filly by Vancouver has had three trials for three placings, and there was a lot to like about her most recent.
Getting the inside draw with 55kg helps.
Race 6. (15:20) Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club Golden Mile (1600m)
#5 – Higher Hand @ $4.80
Higher Hand was too good for them at Tuncurry last start, and we fancy his chances of winning again.
The four-year-old son of Dundeel relished the rise to the mile and he could kick on with the job now.
Getting weight off his back helps, so include him at the price.
Race 8. (16:35) Tuncurry Jockey Club Gold Cup (2100m)
#2 – Jack Duggan @ $4.80
Jack Duggan hasn’t won this preparation but the six-year-old is a nice type.
He owns four wins from 19 starts overall, and two of those wins came on a good racing surface.
Getting each-way odds is a fair price from bookmakers.
