Gosford racing tips
—
Race 2. (13:45) Spring Loaded Super Maiden (1000m)
#8 – Merchant Lady @ $1.80
Merchant Lady has looked good at the trials, winning two of three, including wins at Canterbury and Randwick.
The three-year-old daughter of Merchant Navy is bred to show early speed, and we’re not surprised by the betting support.
Take the short odds and include her in multis.
Race 4. (14:55) Narara Plumbing Services Maiden (1600m)
#2 – Aquatica @ $2.45
Aquatica comes off a third placing at Gosford, and it looks to have a nice future in the waiting.
The Joe Pride-trained four-year-old showed good improvement last time out, and she only needs to improve a touch on that.
This field isn’t tough, so it’s her best chance.
Race 6. (16:10) The Coast Race Day Maiden (1200m)
#3 – Hellinda @ $6.50
Hellinda hasn’t been too far away throughout his career, including two second placings from five starts.
The three-year-old son of Hellbent was a short margin behind the winner at big odds, so we’re not surprised by the shortening odds.
He only needs luck from the wide draw to go close.
Race 8. (17:30) Rock at the Races BM64 (1200m)
#2 – Flying Shelly @ $4.20
Flying Shelly resumed from a spell with a second placing at Wyong, which should be a good form guide.
The four-year-old owns two wins and three placings from nine starts overall, including a win at Gosford.
Getting 2kg off her back helps, and we’re happy to include her in selections.

Race 2. (14:28) Stradbroke Season on Sale Now Maiden (1050m)
#2 – La Petite Maison
La Petite Maison is on debut for Tony Gollan following a trial win at Doomben.
The three-year-old gelding by Spirit of Boom won by 1.5 lengths in good fashion, and he’s good enough to win on race day.
Look for a betting push on race day.
Race 4. (15:40) Cascade C4 Handicap (1200m)
#4 – Majorelle
Majorelle kicked off this preparation with consecutive wins at Ipswich and Lismore before placing at Doomben.
The four-year-old son of Zoustar is in good hands with Matthew Dunn, and he’s another runner with the inside draw.
He runs well with Robbie Dolan in the saddle.
Race 6. (17:00) XXXX Gold C1 (1350m)
#4 – Seneschal
Seneschal has been a model of consistency throughout his career, including a win and three placings from seven starts.
He ran second at the Sunshine Coast in heavy conditions last time out, so he’ll appreciate the firmer conditions on Wednesday.
It’s another good ride for Dolan, who could have a nice day at Doomben.
Race 7. (17:40) Ladbrokes Live Betting BM75 (1350m)
#9 – Velvet Haze
Velvet Haze owns five wins and five placings from 13 starts, so there isn’t much to knock about her career.
The Kris Lees-trained mare is already a three-time winner this campaign, and he comes off a tough second placing at Gold Coast.
She’s the one to beat in this race, and punters could get value odds.
