Ballarat

Race 2. (14:00) Brandt Maiden (1000m)
#9 – Sistine Tunnel @ $2.70
Sistine Tunnel has been well-backed to win on debut, which is a good sign.
The three-year-old filly by Deep Field is bred for speed, and debutantes from the Andrew Noblet stable often hit the ground running.
Having John Allen in the saddle helps.
Race 4. (15:00) Stylerite Windows Maiden (1200m)
#11 – Maid in Dubai @ $4.20
Maid in Dubai ran fourth on debut at Pakenham before improving to run second last time out.
That came at Kyneton behind Soar Beyond, and she doesn’t need to improve much to beat this field.
Getting barrier five is ideal, and she should get a nice drag into the race.
Race 6. (16:00) Hygain Winners Choice BM58 (1000m)
#8 – Zabeelist @ $3.50
Looking to score back-to-back wins is Zabeelist, who won by four lengths at Bendigo.
The four-year-old mare by Capitalist couldn’t have won any easier, and we thought her odds would be shorter this time.
She won’t be worried by the increase in weight.
Race 7. (16:30) Sportsbet Reverse Relay Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Warchime @ $5.50
The Robert Hickmott-trained gelding won well fresh up at Ballarat before posting two disappointing efforts.
He is much better than recent racing, and with six starts for a win and a placing at Ballarat, he likes the track.
After opening at $9.50, money has come for him.

Race 1. (13:15) HRC Motel Super Maiden (1000m)
#1 – Gitalong @ $2.05
Gitalong is better than his form suggests, but his trial form has been excellent.
The Hawkes-trained three-year-old ran third at Newcastle last start before winning trials at Rosehill and Warwick Farm.
Getting better than $2 is a fair price for the favourite.
Race 3. (14:25) Blakes Marine Midway Maiden (1300m)
#3 – Nicci’s Gem @ $3.90
Nicci’s Gem owns two placings from three starts, including a second-place finish at Newcastle.
The four-year-old mare by Nicconi was a short margin behind the winner, so he doesn’t need to improve much to win.
We expect solid betting moves on race day.
Race 6. (16:15) Goats Flooring C1 Handicap (1400m)
#2 – Beauty Rising @ $4.20
Beauty Rising turned her form around when running second at Flemington, which is a top form guide for this race.
The three-year-old finished second behind Wolfy, who has since gone on with it, so we expect much shorter odds here.
Take the value odds available.
Race 7. (16:50) Richmond Club BM68 (1400m)
#4 – Lalaguna @ $4.40
Lalaguna comes off a win at Kembla Grange, and she’s good enough to win again.
The four-year-old mare has yet to race at Hawkesbury, but her form at the distance includes a win and multiple placings.
Barrier four is ideal, and the odds appeal.
