Super Rugby Pacific Round 7 Predictions

Friday 1/4/22

5:05pm Crusaders vs Highlanders @ Orangetheory Stadium

The Highlanders used to have a good rivalry with the Crusaders, but they’re having a rough time of it this season.

They have yet to win a game from five attempts and they’re even trailing the likes of Moana Pasifika and the Fijian Drua, which wasn’t expected.

On the other hand, it’s strange not to see the Crusaders leading the pack. They are third behind the Brumbies and Reds, but have arguably taken on stronger opposition.

Bookmakers have the Crusaders at –15.5, which is a fair line considering the Highlanders form. We haven’t seen enough from the visitors to suggest they can keep it close.

Betting tip: Crusaders –15.5 @ $1.90Bet @ PlayUp

7:45pm Fijian Drua vs Waratahs @ Robina Stadium

It has been a successful season for the Waratahs given their pre-season expectations.

They have three wins from six games and they are odds-on to win their fourth against the Fijian Drua on Friday night.

The Drua are another team that is playing with plenty of heart and they could give the Waratahs a run for their money.

Bookmakers have the line at 8.5, which is lower than we anticipated, given the Waratahs are $1.22 to win outright.

Take the Drua to keep it close and have a late chance to win the contest.

Betting tip: Fijian Drua +8.5 @ $1.90Bet @ PlayUp

Saturday 2/4/22

5:05pm Blues vs Moana Pasifika @ Eden Park

Moana Pasifika scored a huge win over the Hurricanes last week before losing to the Blues on Monday.

Even the loss to the Blues was a great effort after being well down on the scoreboard. They came back to give the Blues a fright, but can they do it twice in a week?

The 32-19 result wasn’t indicative of how tight it was, but the Blues did have a man in the bin for 20 minutes in the second half.

The current betting line is 21.5 points, which makes it interesting for punters. There is little doubting the Blues ability to score an easy win, and given that it’s the second meeting in a week, Moana could feel the pinch.

Betting tip: Blues –21.5 @ $1.90Bet @ PlayUp

7:45pm Reds vs Brumbies @ Suncorp Stadium

There isn’t much separating the Reds and the Brumbies in betting markets and it should be the case on the field.

The Brumbies surprisingly lead Super Rugby after beating the Force 39-38 last week, which was a clutch win, but also a concerning one.

They should have beaten the Force more easily and they could come back to bite them against the Reds, who won 32-20 over the Waratahs.

We fancy the Reds to get the better of the Brumbies on home soil. Playing at Suncorp Stadium always helps the Reds and we’re happy with the –2.5 line.

Betting tip: Reds –2.5 @ $1.90Bet @ PlayUp

Sunday 3/4/22

1:35pm Hurricanes vs Chiefs @ Wellington Regional Stadium

The Chiefs have three wins from five games and they have looked better than the Hurricanes.

They were beaten 34-19 by the Crusaders, which was a much better performance than what the Hurricanes produced against Moana.

Despite playing on the road, the Chiefs are the better team and that’s reflected in betting markets. They are only –4.5 at the sportsbook and that line is worth grabbing.

It could push to around –6.5 come game time.

Betting tip: Chiefs –4.5 @ $1.90Bet @ PlayUp
