Chater Cup Form Guide & Tips
1. Exultant (Best Bet – $1.35) Bet Now
Punters have to take short odds for Exultant but he’s the best horse in this race. The champion is a 12-time winner and he’s coming off a win in the QEII Cup.
He was beaten as the $1.20 favourite in February, which came behind Time Warp, but he’s back in a winning mood and he should be respected.
Zac Purton continues his association with the six-year-old and we’re expecting yet another quality effort from the obvious top pick.
2. Furore ($5) Bet Now
The former Australian almost went in as the best each-way, so we rate his chances. He’s coming off a second placing behind Exultant and rising in distance shouldn’t do his chances any harm.
The former Kris Lees-trained gelding is a six-time winner from 20 starts and although he’s finding it tough to win races, his class shouldn’t be overlooked.
He is a staying type and the 2400m should be right up his alley. We just wanted a better price for him, but don’t leave him out.
3. Time Warp (Best Roughie – $10) Bet Now
Time Warp might have needed the run last start, so punters should look too closely at his run for fifth. He was a big winner of the Hong Kong Gold Cup prior when beating Exultant and that’s a great form guide.
He can be tough to follow at the best of times, but on his day, he can beat any field presented to him.
Punters are getting generous odds of $10 and double-figure odds for a 12-time winner is good value.
4. Eagle Way ($10) Bet Now
Eagle Way hasn’t quite lived up to expectations this season and he’s struggling to find his best form.
The seven-year-old has the experience of 50 race day starts but his best recent effort is a third placing. That did come at Group 1 level but he would need to find a few lengths to win.
5. Chefano (Best Each Way – $10) Bet Now
Chefano enters this race with a last-start win in the bag. The five-year-old won by 2.3 lengths last start and although it was in Group 3 grade, it was an impressive outing.
The John Moore-trained five-year-old has been threatening to go to the next level for some time now. This could be his best chance and having experience winning over 2400m is ideal.
Punters are getting good odds and they’re worth taking.
6. Helena Charisma ($51) Bet Now
Winning has been happening for Helena Charisma and he’s likely to struggle in this class. He ran 4.3 lengths behind Chefano last start and it would be a big upset if he scored here.
Punters are getting big odds but given his form, we’re not surprised.
7. Savvy Nine ($21) Bet Now
Savvy Nine is only a one-race winner and although he gets the services of Joao Moreira, we can’t see him winning this race.
He ran 2.3 lengths behind Chefano last start but that’s two lengths he needs to make up. It would be a sizable upset if he won, but back him in an easier race later this season.
